The Surgical Technician maintains operating room environmental standards according to recommended practices to ensure a safe, supportive environment for staff, medical staff and patient. The Surgical Technician maintains room supplies and furniture to ensure adequate levels for surgical caseloads. The Surgical Technician uses resources (supplies, and equipment) judiciously to ensure efficient and cost effective operation of the department. The Surgical Technician demonstrates leadership skills Full Time, Days Up to $10,000 SOB for qualified candidates, paid over 24 months. Position Summary The Surgical Technician assists with the nursing care of the patients in the OR by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of practice and policy and procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse at all times. Serves as a scrub nurse, but not independently as a circulating nurse. Other duties include stocking, replenishing, preparing, and/or selecting supplies and equipment for storage or use during surgical procedures. Assists with housekeeping functions to maintain cleanliness in the OR. Activities are directed toward achieving desired patient outcomes. Demonstrates the ability to interpret information to identify the patient's age specific needs and provides appropriate care for the age group in question. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Education: High school graduate or GED, Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent Certifications: On The Job Training Basic Life Support Preferred Requirements Education: Graduate of Surgical tech. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program. Must be certified to perform CPR with 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures. Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment. Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly. Get patients ready for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites. Transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table and cover them with sterile surgical “drapes.” Observe patients' vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves. Strategic/Transformational Duties and Responsibilities * Provides exceptional customer service and patient care under the direction of the CORE Community Paramedic for patients facing crisis from Opioid Use Disorder in a safe, courteous and professional manner. * Participates in the performance quality improvement (PQI) process and uses data to improve services and outcomes.
