Job Summary: The Perioperative Technician-OR performs designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Completes case carts and prepares the operatingroom (OR) rooms with supplies, instruments, and equipment. Assists the surgical team. Restocks supplies and maintains inventory. Assists with loaning and repair of equipment among surgical procedural sites. Assists with care and maintenance of equipment and supplies as needed. Follows policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum six months nursing assistant experience or perioperative experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform basic patient care activities using proper body mechanics and safety precautions. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate; accept direction. We're seeking an experienced and compassionate Surgical Tech to join our collaborative team. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program
BLS required
Minimum 1 year of scrub experience required, orthopedic strongly preferred
Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and operatingroom protocols
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operatingroom by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
Follows center regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures.
Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly.
Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants.
Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings.
After an operation, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operatingroom.
Maintain rapid and efficient operatingroom turnovers
Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are clean, sterile, and functioning properly.
Assist in draping the patient and maintaining a sterile field throughout the surgery.
Pass instruments, sponges, and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical staff during procedures.
Assist with positioning patients on the operating table
Assist team during medical emergencies
Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following infection control protocols.
Respond quickly to requests from surgical team members.
Adhere to center policies, procedures, and safety standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the center.
Must demonstrate the knowledge of the principle of growth and development of the life span and the possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the center's policies and procedures.
Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
* Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operatingroom by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
* Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures.
