Duties:
* The Surgical Technologist/scrub tech position will work as part of the procedure team in the procedure rooms, scrubbing the case, while ensuring patient safety processes are in place and followed.
* Responsible for setting up instruments, checks functioning of electronic/powered equipment, and works closely with physicians while passing instruments and anticipating their equipment/instrument needs throughout the procedure.
* Has an in-depth understanding of aseptic technique and sterile procedures, while maintaining an aseptic environment and applying sterile fields.
* Keep stands and back tables neat and orderly to facilitate ease of access to instruments in order to facilitate quick and thorough counts.
* Knows the proper equipment for each procedure, as well as the ability to prepare equipment and supplies necessary to perform each procedure.
* Maintains the accuracy of all sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
* Assists with between case clean up and preparations for the following cases. Returns equipment to its proper storage area when needed.
* Clean and stock procedure rooms at the end of the day.
Qualifications:
* Possesses a high level of manual dexterity and visual concentration to pass instruments and observe sterile techniques.
* Performs a variety of functions in the OR to assist the surgical team.
* Knowledge of anatomy & physiology and knowledge of OR equipment.
* AST certification or certification eligible within one year
* Completion of an accredited surgical tech program or previous OR experience.
* BLS Current certification is required.
