Job Requirements
Our Patient Care Technicians provide high-quality patient care to patients suffering from the most advanced stage of chronic kidney disease, known as END Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). As a PCT you will monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, initiating cannulation, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup. Our Patient Care Technicians have a combination of technical skills and genuine passion needed to develop deep relationships with patients and improve their quality of life.
Work Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must have a desire to care for people and be comfortable working around blood and needles.
Experienced PCTs must have current certification from BONENT, NNCC, or NNCO or if applicable other state approved certification.
Experienced PCTs are required to have current BLS/CPR certification.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Prepares instruments and supplies to perform procedures according to the surgeon's documented preferred routine. Prepares the operating field for procedures. Performs routine and delegated duties. Detailed and experienced in ENT surgeries and procedures.
Essential Functions (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions).
* Assembles supplies, dental materials, and equipment for scheduled procedures according to surgeon's preference cards and reports to the proper person when supplies are low.
* Inspects equipment for proper working condition. Notifies DON of equipment failure and arranges for repair.
* Assists in the preparation of the operatingroom by making sure settings on all equipment are set to preference for the surgeon.
* Arranges instruments according to routine for the scheduled procedure; confirms that instruments work properly.
* Maintains availability of instruments and supplies, and dental materials to avoid delays.
* Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and responds according to facility policy.
* Assists in maintaining adequate supplies, and dental materials in the operatingroom for immediate access during procedures.
* When supplies, dental materials, or instruments are needed during a procedure, is able to direct the circulating nurse to minimize any delay in obtaining the necessary item.
* Assists in work areas by cleaning, storing, packaging, and sterilizing instruments according to written instructions from the manufacturer.
* Assists with storing and stocking supplies, dental materials, and instruments as directed.
* Maintains and updates instrument cards and surgeons' preference cards.
* Cleans each item according to the manufacturer instructions.
* Lubricates the instruments with instrument milk making sure the lubricant is not outdated.
* Inspects the instruments under a microscope for damage or defects.
* Sorts and arranges items into correct trays and individual wrapped items according to facility policy
* Accurately labels each item according to facility policy.
* Correctly operates prevac and gravity autoclaves, ultrasonic washers, and other equipment for processing instruments.
* Performs required biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers. Performs Bowie-dick test on all prevac sterilizers according to facility policy.
* Checks biological indicators, Bowie-dick test, and the sterilizer monitoring strip for proper functioning of the sterilizer.
* Maintains availability of supplies for recording continuity during the sterilization process.
* If sterilizer fails any testing, notifies OR team and arranges for repair.
* Cleans sterilizers according to facility procedures.
* Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and surgeon.
* Documents any records or forms according to facility policy.
* Communicates information about the patient's status to appropriate patient care staff.

* EXPERIENCE WITH ENT SURGERIES (Tonsils, Adenoids, Ear Tubes, etc.)

Work Environment
This job operates in a medical facility where there is patient care equipment. Hazardous materials are also present. Exposure to patients' conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases is possible.
Physical Demands
Require high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities. Occasional overhead and low reaching. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, to stand for long periods and to exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly. Documents accurate, complete and precise patient information, interventions and responses in the patient's medical record. Performs discharge function under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
