A Surgical Tech is responsible for All surgical instruments, including, but not limited to, cleaning, checking, maintaining, wrapping, and sterilizing instruments used in eye surgeries. They must also be able to work well under pressure and be able to handle stressful situations.
Responsibilities:
Cleans, checks, and maintains surgical instruments. Decontaminates, assembles and packages all instruments following established protocols. Documents and removes from circulation any damaged instruments that may be questionable in operation. Notifies Surgery Manager of any instrument that needs repair. Prepares work order requests as necessary for replacement parts for instruments and additional equipment as necessary or upon request of physicians.
Assembles complex surgical instrument trays, power equipment sets and all implant systems in accordance with the specifications on the inventory sheets. Inspects all instruments to ensure they are in good working condition, removing and placing damaged instruments in the repair box. Determines the priority level of instruments sets and single instruments to be processed following established protocols.
Utilizes Standard Precautions, thoroughly decontaminating and separating surgical instruments sets, power equipment, implant systems, patient care equipment and all other reusable items.
Washes used instruments, operates Quick Rinse system, ultrasonic cleaners, steam autoclaves, and all other equipment necessary in the decontamination, processing, and sterilization of all instruments. Maintains appropriate logs and records relating to all sterilization process documentation.
Communicates needs for equipment maintenance and replacement and assists in process of all directly related supplies. Communicates with all surgery personnel as to the availability of instrumentation as needed for procedures. Ensures timely reporting of all maintenance needed and assists in the process of timely supply orders.
Function independently, be willing to initiate tasks and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.
Is available and willing to perform all other jobs as needed within the surgery center with proper training and/or education.

The PACU/PRE-OP Nurse reports to the Clinical Coordinator and is responsible for providing professional nursing service to patients who have undergone outpatient surgical procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives report from the anesthesiologist/CRNA and circulating nurse and identifies the patient upon the arrival of the patient in the PACU.
Takes vital signs consisting of blood pressure, pulse, and respirations, SaO2, and temperature when the patient arrives in PACU and as necessary throughout the patient's stay. Accurately documents the vital signs and any pertinent details about the patient's status while in PACU.
Completes and documents an assessment of the patient (including airway status, cardiac rhythm as indicated, level of consciousness and condition of operative site) on admission to PACU and thereafter as indicated.
Verifies physician's orders, administers medications, and performs procedures as ordered.
Gives all prescriptions to the appropriate person (i.e. patient, parent and/or responsible adult).
When patient meets discharge criteria, the PACU Nurse:
Notifies anesthesiologist or surgeon to check patient
Discontinues intravenous access
Reviews, educates, and provides a copy of the written discharge instructions to the patient, patient's family and/or the accompanying responsible adult
Discharges the patient, via the appropriate exit, either via wheelchair, assisting with ambulation, or other appropriate method based on patient condition
Completes all documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
The PACU Nurse, at the end of the day:
Returns any appropriate items to front desk/reception area,
Assists with preparations of the PACU and preoperative areas for the next day, and
Closes facility according to protocol.
Tags and removes malfunctioning equipment from the clinical area, and reports to the Clinical Director/ Coordinator as soon as possible.
Assists with receiving and storing supplies as needed.
Disposes of contaminated needle containers in an appropriate receptacle in accordance with safety protocols.
Assists with post-op phone calls, as needed.

Participates in the Adverse Incident reporting process as necessary.

About the role:

You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
* You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
* High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
* Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
* Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
* Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
* Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
* Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
