Operating room technician job in Rogers, AR

Main Function:
The Surgical Scrub Technician (or Certified Surgical Scrub Technician) is a member of the surgical team who works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other surgical staff to deliver high-quality patient care. The technician assumes appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Competencies:
Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and the scrub techs role in performing these procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of surgical equipment and its use in the operating room.
Demonstrates understanding of a surgical scrub technicians duties before, during, and after each surgical case.
Assembles supplies, instruments, and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians preference cards.
Attends all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, center/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
Correctly uses, cares for, cleans, and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment as directed.
Assists in maintaining adequate operating room supplies for immediate use during procedures and assists with storing and restocking as needed.
Maintains and updates instrument cards, tray lists, and surgeons preference cards regularly.
Follows the centers exposure control plan, including bloodborne and airborne pathogen protocols.
Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and responds according to policy.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional and courteous environment.
Promotes effective working relationships and collaboration among staff to support the centers goals and objectives.
Maintains accurate documentation related to sterilization records, cleaning forms, logs, and related documentation.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Provides Basic Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs other duties as required.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The supervisor makes assignments in terms of shifts to be worked and the general scope of the work assignment. • Additionally, incumbents must maintain a high degree of academic and practical knowledge in emergency medicine, and must attend sufficient continuing education classes, courses, and seminars both on and

duty to maintain annual certification, as required by the state in which you will be working.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The work requires the incumbent to operate emergency medical vehicles, move medical equipment and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations. Situation can involve vehicular, industrial and residential accidents, injuries or illness and occur anywhere in our coverage area. At times the work requires movement over various types of terrain, (hilly, steep, rocky, rough, and/or wet/slippery surfaces). The incumbent at all times must be able to carry or help carry someone from the site of the injury to the mode of transportation (vehicle/helicopter) and attend the injured party to the hospital. In order to perform a physical assessment of the injured party, the incumbent must see, hear, and communicate with the injured party.
Incumbents will be issued and must wear Company issued uniforms while on duty; additionally, incumbents will be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of uniform s, as well as all issued equipment.
Incumbents are required to carry a Company issued pager/radio at all times in order to receive immediate notification of an assignment.

Promote effective working relationships and teamwork across departments to support the centers goals and objectives.
Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization records, cleaning forms, logs, and other required documentation.
Operate and maintain all operating room instrumentation, video equipment, power equipment, lasers, smoke evacuators, microscopes, OR beds, sterilization equipment, and clinical equipment used for patient care (including suction equipment, stretchers, blanket and fluid warmers).
Use standard office equipment (computers, copiers, phones, PA system, fax machines) as needed.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
1 year Experience
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPR certification required
NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technician (or equivalent certification)
