Perform all tasks in a manner that is cost-effective without compromising quality of care; participate in departmental quality assessment and improvement activities; meet hospital continuing education and certification requirements. At NorthBay Health the Surgical Technologist II is responsible for the delivery of patient care to assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed professional nurse. The Surgical Technologist II works as a team member with the primary function as the “scrub person” in the surgical suite and other clinical areas. The Surgical Technologist II provides specialized resources to the nursing department and Patient Care Services Division through their role as a service lead providing education, case consultation or other program services on an ongoing basis. The technologist may be assigned other functions as permitted by the hospital policy. The Surgical Technologist II works as a service lead for a specialty surgical service. Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Graduate of Approved Surgical Technologist program required. Licensure/Certification: Current certification in basic life support through American Heart Association. Experience: Minimum one-year acute care operating room experience as a Surgical Technologist required. Trauma II experience preferred. Must demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique, safe use and care of surgical instruments and equipment, knowledge of various in-patient surgical procedures. Basic windows computer skills required.
