Key responsibilities this position will perform include: Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery, preservation, and packaging of organs and specimens in conjunction with transplant surgeons and/or organ recovery coordinators in accordance with policies and standards. Assumes primary responsibility for the renal preservation process including pumping and pump transport, in accordance with policies and standards. Performs extensive on-call responsibilities to assist with the activities related to the donor recovery. Coordinates and assists with organ allocation, including kidney and liver placement, distribution, and transportation of organs for transplantation and/or research in accordance with policies and standards. Coordinates and assists with fly outs and fly backs. The ideal candidate will have: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. One to two years experience in the operating room or recent graduate of a certified surgical technician program required. Health-related certification and ISOP Level 1 by completion of the first year. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications and basic data entry skills required. Work 8-hour shift assigned and take call as assigned on a rotating basis. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program or documented on-the-job training. Must have good communication skills, verbal and written. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Position-Specific Standards: Preoperative Duties: Identify the patient. Intraoperative Duties: Assist in placing and positioning the patient on the OR bed for all surgical procedures. Tie and secure sterile gowns. Don sterile gloves using the open glove method. Hold extremities during the operative prep. Apply monitor leads, pulse oximeters, and blood pressure cuffs. Assist anesthesia personnel with the administration of general and regional anesthesia.
