Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking an OperatingRoom Nurse for our ambulatory surgery center who demonstrates the values of our company by caring like family. You will be an amazing addition to our team by contributing your expertise in the circulating or scrub role. You will ensure safe and effective nursing care until your patient is transferred from your care to recovery.
What you will do in this role:
Oversee the instrument and equipment set-up for your OR, including utilization of preference cards and ability to anticipate your surgeon's needs
Coordinate and oversee your room during a case as the circulator
You will facilitate effective and efficient transition between surgical procedures
Utilize appropriate body mechanics in moving your patients to stretchers and OR tables to prevent injury
Manage your patients care and medication, including assistance with anesthesia
Consistently review your charts for completeness, in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after the surgical procedure
Qualifications you will need:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Minimum 1 year of experience in an operatingroom setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure
Valid BCLS Certification upon employment *online certification not acceptable
ACLS as required by facility
CNOR certification preferred

In this position, you will:
Assists with the preparation of the operatingroom for surgical procedures.
Assist with skin preparations and with draping of patients

Removes drapes at the end of the procedure, cleanses the patients of prep solution, and applies dressing as needed.
Clean and disinfect instruments and equipment after use
Participate in sponge, instrument, and needle count with the circulating nurse.

Checks updated schedule every morning and prepares room supplies and equipment.
Back up materials manager in placing orders for supplies and implants.
Qualifications
To ensure success in this role, you should be a:

MISSION

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in assessment of patient ability to follow directions/instructions.
Assists in treatment and care of the surgical, pre, or post operative patient.
Provide education involving the care and plan of treatment of the surgical patient. (i.e. proper care of wound site, bandages, sutures).
Assist with execution of minor surgical procedures and services for the surgical patient. (i.e. inspect and adjust bandages needed for surgical, pre or post operative care).
In the event of an emergency, apply recognized first aid procedures.
Provides and documents patient, family education and teaching
Greet patients and provide an initial evaluation as needed.
Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs.
Assist provider in examination/procedure rooms as needed.
Assist in follow-up scheduling needs; assist in overall surgery scheduling as needed.
Answer patient calls, questions and addresses problems in timely fashion.
Communicates all significant clinical findings to MD.
Serves as liaison with other departments, facilities, and hospital as needed.
Assists with administrative support activities as delegated.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma/GED is required
Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
Experience:
2 years of experience in an inpatient or outpatient medical setting with Surgical Tech specialty is required
Licenses/Certification:
BLS from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required

About the OR:· 4 OperatingRooms· Type of OR cases, but not limited to: Urology, GYN, Breast, Reconstructive Urology, as well as Colorectal, General, Plastics and Thoracic· Types of Endoscopic cases, but not limited to: Colonoscopies, ERCPs, EGDs, and Bronchoscopies· Work Schedule: 3 x 12 hour shifts, 06:30am - 07:00pm, including weekend coverage and on-call As a successful candidate, you will: Assist surgeons/proceduralists during operative/invasive procedure, assuring that necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are ready and/or available and anticipates such needs. Maintain sterile techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in sterile technique and communicates any breaks in techniques noted.Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies; Actively participates in turnover processes, stocking of rooms, and proper care of instruments.
