A Brief Overview
Responsible for assisting the surgical team by acting as a primary scrub person who handles surgical instruments, supplies and equipment used in a specialized area during surgical procedures. Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely in all interactions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
Must have good balance and coordination.
The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.

* Assures that cleaning activities are ongoing, thereby consistently maintaining instrumentation needed for caseload.
* Cleans and maintains operatingrooms before and after surgical procedures. Maintains cleaning solutions and cleaning equipment.
* Troubleshoot problems related to equipment, supplies, and service. Takes appropriate corrective action and informs manager when needed.
* Exercise caution when using chemicals/cleaning fluids that are toxic or caustic.
* Assures that solid/infectious waste is collected and delivered to the collection area in a timely manner.
* Assists the OR team in lifting, positioning, transferring, and caring for the sedated/anesthetized patients in the O.R. and PACU.
* Assists in monitoring patients for positioning safety-related issues under the guidance of the RN and notifies the RN of safety issues. Follows accepted recommended guidelines for moving, positioning, and holding limbs of patients.
* Actively participates in the time-out process.
* Transports requested items such as sterile and non-sterile supplies, SPD items, charts, records, and equipment between departments and surgical units in a timely manner.
* Monitors operative schedule to ensure required supplies and implants are available.
* Maintains principles of aseptic technique. Notifies team members when breaks in technique, occur and takes appropriate measures to correct breaks in technique.
* Responsible for point-of-use cleaning for all surgical instruments, and break-down of surgical instruments and equipment before transporting them to the Sterile Processing Room.
* Regular and predictable attendance.
* Ability to work cooperatively with others.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

3) Any surgical technologist who began a surgical technology program prior to May 21, 2007, and completed such training by May 21, 2010; 1 year of surgical experience required. Basic knowledge of surgical technique, including surgical care preparation and OperatingRoom sterile field set-up and break down, is required. Knowledge of methods and procedures for contamination control. Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies preferred.

* All Surgical Technologists must complete fifteen (15) hours of continuing education or contact hours annually to remain qualified for employment and are required to submit verification of completion to the Nurse Educator each year.

• Works with ALS personnel in a professional manner and works at their skill level in accordance with the Tennessee DPH/OEMS and company policies. Maintain good relations between our own ALS services as well as outside services.
• Acts at all times in the best interests of high-quality patient care, in the best interests of the patient, and in such a manner to reflect credibly on TMHC (Team Mobile Health Care) and the professional reputation of the emergency medical technician.
• Acts at all times with his/her personal safety in mind and the safety of his/her partner, the patient, other EMS personnel, bystanders, and any other public safety personnel present.
• Accompanies BLS patients to their destination, continuing to provide appropriate care and patient advocacy until the responsibility for the patient has been transferred to an appropriate medical professional and a report has been given.
• Cosigns all patient care forms for completeness.
• Completes all appropriate documentation and record-keeping for every assignment.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions/Body Substance Isolation when dealing with patient contacts. Is familiar with and practices infection control policies and procedures for TMHC (Team Mobile Health Care).
• When necessary and appropriate, acts as a team leader in dealing with emergency and non-emergency situations, directing and supervising other emergency medical care team members.
• Performs duties related to public relations and community education programs sponsored by TMHC (Team Mobile Health Care). Performs duties related to the continuing improvement and development of TMHC (Team Mobile Health Care) and the local EMS system.
• Accepts responsibility for recertification as an EMT by DPH/OEMS. Attend appropriate continuing education courses and yearly recertification in BLS Healthcare Provider - CPR. Files the appropriate paperwork with DPH/OEMS to ensure timely recertification.
• Provide TMHC (Team Mobile Health Care) with a current copy of their EMT certification, CPR card, and Motor Vehicle Driver's License. Complete training in all Company, state, and federal mandates.
• Reports to assigned shifts in proper uniform and on time unless the proper notification has been made. Remains on duty and in proper uniform until properly relieved.
• Acts as an EMT preceptor when called upon by management to train or retrain fellow employees.
• Allows and is willing to accommodate third riders for orientation and/or educational purposes. Completes all documentation on behalf of student interns.
• Performs other duties as directed by management.
• At all times, present an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow. Place patient care excellence above all else.

• Chief Clinical Operations Officer, Division President, and/or Director of Patient Care Services for all operational matters.
• Clinical Director or Clinical Programs manager for all professional and/or clinical care and/or quality matters.
• Paramedics, physicians, and nursing personnel are responsible for consultation, supervision, and direction in providing emergency medical care to an individual patient(s) in a given situation.

Requirements:
• Currently registered as an AEMT by the State of Tennessee, Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services.
• Current certification in CPR - Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association or American Safety and Health Institute.
• Current Motor Vehicle Operator's license with F endorsement.
