Key responsibilities this position will perform include: Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery, preservation, and packaging of organs and specimens in conjunction with transplant surgeons and/or organ recovery coordinators in accordance with policies and standards. Assumes primary responsibility for the renal preservation process including pumping and pump transport, in accordance with policies and standards. Performs extensive on-call responsibilities to assist with the activities related to the donor recovery. Coordinates and assists with organ allocation, including kidney and liver placement, distribution, and transportation of organs for transplantation and/or research in accordance with policies and standards. Coordinates and assists with fly outs and fly backs. The ideal candidate will have: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. One to two years experience in the operating room or recent graduate of a certified surgical technician program required. Health-related certification and ISOP Level 1 by completion of the first year. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications and basic data entry skills required.     JOB TITLE: Surgical Tech / SPD Per Diem (PRN) Surgical Technician with SPD experience or willingness to learn, needed for fast paced ASC. Must have minimum 1 year of experience. CPR required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Physician and/or Registered Nurse GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program. CST preferred Must be certified to perform CPR with 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures. Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment. Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly. Get patients ready for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites. Transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile surgical “drapes.” Observe patients' vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves. Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants. Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings. Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and help operate diagnostic equipment. After an operation, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room. Performs other duties as assigned.     The Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) is responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The ED Tech collects data and implements task specific functions as directed by the Registered Nurse. The ED Tech delivers care that is specific to the special behaviors / needs of the patient and that is age appropriate for the individual. The ED Tech communicates pertinent patient information and responses to interventions to the appropriate nurses and documents in the medical record pertinent patient information and responses to interventions. Skills: Must maintain competencies in skills, as assigned through annual skills training and in identified department training Must also be competent in assisting nurses and physicians with department specific procedures Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing care for patients in the following age groups: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, and Geriatric Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, patients, physicians, and co-workers Ability to remain flexible and positive within a rapidly changing patient care environment Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the True North values.
