Decontaminate ambulance interior following treatment of patient with known or suspected infectious disease and report incident as required.
Completes appropriates documentation of patient's treatment into KCEAA's E-PCR (electronic patient care reporting) software.
Follows daily, weekly and periodic inspection and inventory of supplies, vehicle, station and related equipment as needed or as directed by KCEAA policy and entering proper documentation of the inspection and inventory.
Comfort and reassure patients.
Attend training classes to maintain certification licensure, keep abreast of new developments in the field of emergency services, or maintain existing knowledge.

Working Conditions
This is a mission critical position. The employee is required to report to work when there is adverse weather, on holidays and on short notice. The EMT must be available for work on any shift as requested by KCEAA. The position may require work beyond the scheduled shift as requested and/or until properly relieved or released. While performing the duties of this job, the EMT may work in outside weather conditions all times of year, near moving mechanical parts and in conditions that could include exposure to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and exposure to extreme cold and heat. The EMT may also be exposed to blood, saliva and other body substances, as well as irrational, combative patients and bystanders. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the employee to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 150 pounds independently and 300 pounds or more with assistance. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, operate equipment with tools and controls, climb and balance, stoop, kneel and crouch and occasionally maneuver through challenging obstacles. This position also requires the employee have finger dexterity and manual dexterity. Multilimb coordination is required as well as arm-hand steadiness. Job Summary
* Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures for surgical patients of all age groups
Essential Functions
* Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families
* Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes
* Documentation meets current standards and policies
* Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors
* Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition
* Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors, maintaining patient safety throughout the procedure.
* Adapts procedures to meet individual needs of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients for treatment
* Applies principles of sterile techniques and infection control procedures
* Prepares surgical operating suite by ensuring that it is clean, sterile, and properly equipped
* Arrange surgical instruments, drapes, solutions, supplies, and equipment, ensuring everything is in working order and readily accessible for the surgical team
* Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients
* Work closely with the surgical team, passing instruments to the surgeon, maintain a sterile field, and assist with any necessary tasks to ensure a smooth and efficient operation
* Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery
* Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of assigned case and instruments and/or trays to be pulled for the procedure
* Provides patient with explanations and verbal reassurance, as necessary
* Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory
* Consults with other staff members when in question or unfamiliar with equipment or procedure
* Post-operative care: help with transferring the patient to the recovery area, cleaning and restocking the operating room, and documenting the procedure accurately for medical records
* Responsible for post-operative sterilizing surgical instruments and ensuring they are properly maintained
* This includes cleaning, disinfecting, and assembling instruments according to sterilization protocols to maintain a sterile surgical environment
* Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice

* Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
* Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
* Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security. Additional languages preferred

Position Overview:
The Emergency Medical Technician performs duties associated with providing emergency medical care to the ill and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
Environmental and Mechanical Considerations:
The Emergency Medical Technician delivers transport services under the stresses of ground transport, with frequent exposure to blood/body fluids, in sometimes hazardous conditions, near moving mechanical parts and within high noise environments. Training and resources are available to mitigate risk as appropriate, but the responsibility to utilize those devices falls to the individual.
Minimum Required Educational Level:
Completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program
Preferred Educational Level:
One year of experience as an EMT.

About the Role:
The Emergency Medical Technician Advanced (EMT-A) at Critical Access Hospital - Grantsville (CAHGR) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality pre-hospital emergency medical care to patients in urgent and life-threatening situations. This position requires rapid assessment, stabilization, and transportation of patients while ensuring adherence to established medical protocols and safety standards. The EMT-A collaborates closely with other healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and hospital staff to provide seamless patient care from the scene to definitive treatment facilities. Minimum Qualifications:
Valid and current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician Advanced (EMT-A) or equivalent as recognized by the state of West Virginia.
