Coin Operations Mechanic


Job Description



Key Responsibilities:


Monitor performance of coin sorters and wrapping machines to ensure accuracy of counts and optimal efficiency
Maintain specifications by observing operations, detecting malfunctions, inspecting parts and adjusting controls
Maintain a parts inventory record and stock of parts. Order replacement parts to minimize downtime (lost production time) in the event that a machine breaks down Ensure operation of equipment by performing preventive maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis following manufacturer's instructions. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions, escalating to the Supervisor when necessary Monitor and report any issues regarding deficiencies/need for replacement of any equipment to manager Cross-train and cover for other coin room positions as needed
Maintain orderly and clean work area, including all adjacent wall, tables, cabinets and storage areas Guard liability and assets

Job Title: Co-op - Mechanical Lifecyle Engineering

Department: Mechanical Lifecyle Engineering

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview:
The candidate will work with cross functional teams, including manufacturing, process, design, mechanical, and electrical engineers on projects related to root cause investigation of manufacturing issues, increasing manufacturing capacity, qualifying new component suppliers, analyzing current manufacturing processes, and improving company processes. These functions and others help support Insulet's ability to continue to improve the quality of life for more diabetes patients every day.
The ideal candidate will have the desire to learn about and work with various manufacturing processes and practices (including plastic injection molding, metal stamping and automated assembly) and lab testing equipment, while learning about the medical device industry. Co-op's will also have the opportunity to experience state of the art manufacturing in Acton and international business and manufacturing processes by interfacing with Insulet employees working at the manufacturing plant in China. Insulet focuses on professional development of co-op students. Each co-op has a manager who works with them to achieve desired learning outcomes based on the preferences of the co-op.

Responsibilities:
Work hands on with lab equipment (Instron, Pressure Transducers, OGP, High Speed Camera, etc.) to aid Root Cause Analysis activities Design test procedures, 3D printed fixtures, perform custom tests, and analyze data to support tool qualifications and design enhancements Project Lead for at least one root causing / process improvement initiative Improve internal processes (data analysis, work flow systems, etc.) by automating tasks and standardizing methods using applicable software skills (VBA, etc.) Application of Six Sigma & Lean manufacturing concepts Assist/Lead Engineering Change Orders to improve product design Performs other duties as required.Up to 5% Travel to local suppliers as needed

Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate mechanical, industrial, or bio- engineering program3.0 GPA or better
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
Mechanical aptitude / hands on mentality Familiar with statistical analysis Experience with CAD software Good documentation skills Strong attention to detail
Physical Requirements (if applicable):
Lab Testing using relevant equipment Lifting up to 40 lbs

Job Duties:
Verify product for start-up (e.g., product codes, weights, etc.) Ensure equipment is ready for start-up/changeovers performing pre-start checks Visually inspect equipment to ensure it is operating according to standards making adjustments as necessary Complete centerline inspections to identify defects Grease seals and bearings, clean, inspect, and replace belts as needed Assist mechanics with minor repairs, replacements, and modifications to equipment as needed Assist mechanics with Planned Maintenance (PM) as necessary Teardown equipment for changeover/sanitation Complete daily paperwork (e.g., centerline reports, scale audits, PM/AM sheets, etc.) Keep work area free from debris to maintain a safe and efficient production process Participate in production line drumbeats as required General housekeeping (e.g., sweeping, wiping down guards, removal of contaminants, etc.) May perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Excellent attention to detail Ability to solve problems independently Knowledge of GMP'sAbility to be LOTO certified
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year maintenance or related experience preferred.
