Role Overview: Director of Engineering Operations
As the Director of Engineering Operations, you will be the operational and engineering execution backbone of the company-driving alignment, velocity, and cross-functional coordination across PIC design, lab development, system architecture, module engineering, and customer-facing work.
This is a high-energy, fast-paced leadership role for someone who thrives on taking complex hardware and photonics programs from concept to demonstration and to product. You will be a key leader shaping the roadmap, engineering processes, ensuring tight integration between teams, and keep execution on track across multi-foundry tapeouts, link demos, module architecture, and customer pilot programs.
We are looking for a strong operator with deep optical transceiver experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coach and elevate engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own cross-functional execution roadmap across PIC, lab, systems, firmware, packaging, and module
Drive overall product engineering including milestone target setting and tracking • Maintain the master plan for tapeouts, demos, customer pilot builds, and module development
Implement execution frameworks, OKR tracking, risk management, and dependency management
Coordinate with Co-CTOs to translate architecture and PIC requirements into end products
Ensure deliverables across PIC, test, firmware, packaging, and module engineering align cleanly
Oversee lab operations and test flows to ensure proper prioritization and efficient output
Drive critical link demos, fiber testing, and stability testing through product development
Mentor engineers on communication, documentation, and measurement readiness
Work with the Head of Product to align engineering output with customer requirements
Support customer and partner technical interactions (hyperscalers, module vendors,
ASIC vendors)
Required Qualifications and Skills:
8-15+ years in optical transceivers, silicon photonics, optical modules, or high-speed hardware
Understanding of optical link architecture, PIC-based transceivers, WDM systems, coupling/packaging
Proven success driving complex hardware programs or multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Proven track record engineering pluggable modules and/or custom module form factors
Exceptional organizational skill and ability to create clarity from ambiguity
High energy and urgency, able to drive teams to aggressive milestones
Strong communication and coaching/mentoring ability
Experience with lab workflows, test planning, validation cycles, and hardware bring-up
Experience with silicon photonics tapeout cycles.
Experience in early-stage startups.
Leadership experience in program management, engineering operations, or NPI.
Familiarity with reliability and qualification flows.
Experience engaging hyperscalers or large module customers.

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of RevOps leadership experience in B2B SaaS or payments, with multiple GTM operations functions reporting directly, including Sales Ops, Marketing Ops, Customer/Post-Sales Ops, Revenue Systems & Tools, and Enablement Ops.
Payments and acquiring revenue expertise, including hands-on experience with transaction-based revenue models, partner share dynamics, and fee structures.
Experience scaling organizations to 100+ employees or operating effectively within a similarly sized, high-growth environment.
Demonstrated success leading annual planning cycles, including revenue modeling, capacity planning, hiring plans, and GTM budgeting in partnership with Finance.
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or higher required.
Advanced technical proficiency across the GTM tech stack, including:

A Typical Day Position Summary: The Operations Manager - Precision Review at Pennymac will lead and oversee a specialized team responsible for validating income and assets, managing escalations, ensuring compliance with investor guidelines, and maintaining adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).

Monitor operational metrics, track SLA adherence, and proactively address performance gaps.
Partner with Underwriting, Credit Policy, and other internal stakeholders to resolve escalations and ensure consistency in decision-making.
Strategic & Process Management Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Develop and refine procedures to mitigate risk and maintain compliance with investor and regulatory requirements.
Provide reporting and insights on volume, SLA performance, and quality trends to senior leadership.
Lead initiatives that strengthen operational effectiveness and support organizational goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex loan scenarios.
Collaborate with leadership across Fulfillment, Underwriting, and Credit to align practices and share best practices.
Represent the Precision Review function in projects, audits, and strategic initiatives.

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $169,000.00-$231,000.00. The successful candidate will lead a large, highly energetic and technically astute team of over 400 engineers, technicians, and managers that are responsible for the manufacturing, packaging, architecture and product solutions for state-of- the-art detection and imaging products, representing disciplines including: Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Product Management, Master Scheduling & Planning, and Production Control. This position will interface both internally and externally with customers, establish and build relationships with strategic partners, and provide guidance and leadership that is crucial for growth and future success of RVS.
What You Will Do
Provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership for all disciplines in the manufacturing center.
Partner with all functional organizations at Raytheon Vision Systems to meet site requirements for product quality, cost and delivery schedules. Work with supply chain and design engineering functions to drive manufacturability and on time materials receipt.
Provide leadership regarding customer requirements, communications and resolution of issues.
Lead the development and optimization of advanced processes for packaging and assembly of new products during prototype builds and transition to production. Enable the volume scaling of products through appropriate allocation of process improvement and capital funding.
Provide oversight and assessments of program recurring and non-recurring costs in the form of bid reviews and Estimates at Complete (EACs).
Enhance S&OP process and refine process centric capacity planning process and models.
Operate with minimal oversight, have excellent communications and customer relations skills, as well as work collaboratively with other teams and in a critical time environment.
Improve the operational and manufacturing systems, processes and policies in support of organizations goals and strategic growth.
Identify and lead large scale initiatives for continuous improvement (such as lean, CORE, yield improvement, cycle time reduction, etc.) and support enterprise initiatives towards standardization.
Coordinate and provide communication liaison between shared support functions.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically require a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 14 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience in Manufacturing Management, Operations Management, and / or Engineering Management.
Qualifications We Prefer
Electro-Optic product engineering, packaging and production experience
Knowledge of Defense Industry Acquisition and Manufacturing Readiness Assessments / Levels (MRA/MRL)
EVMS and Program Management training and/or Certification
SAP - CMES knowledge / PRISM knowledge / APEX knowledge
Familiarity with internal Raytheon processes
Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) Experience
Lean Manufacturing Expert Certification
Ability to collaborate daily with cross-functional teams in a fast paced, robust matrixed environment.
Ability to synthesize large amounts of data from disparate sources to convey program and functional health
Demonstrated initiative, persistence and creativity in problem solving
Thorough understanding of process centric management in a high mix/low volume environment
Experience with proposal processes (Top-down and bottoms-up methodology, learning curves, capacity analysis, etc.)
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
Experience in developing and executing manufacturing strategies
