The major duties of the Public Safety Dispatcher position include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Serves as a dispatcher for the US Park Police, applying in-depth knowledge of dispatch operating systems, databases, and equipment, as well as knowledge of dispatch policies and past practices to isolate and solve unusual and difficult technical problems.
* Performs dispatch and call taking services for a wide variety of complex public safety related incidents and operations.
* Coordinates rescue, ambulance, and helicopter operations, etc., of various agencies.
* Receives and evaluates emergency calls for service.
* Provides dispatch support to law enforcement activities.
* Queries & relays wants, warrants, driver and vehicle status, Be on the Lookout (BOLO), and Attempt to Locate (ATL) information for law enforcement contacts and investigations.
* Serves as a certified operator of National Criminal Information Network (NCIC), National Law Enforcement Communications System (NLETS), and state criminal information networks (i.e., ACCESS, TLETS, VCIN, etc). Accesses, analyzes, and utilizes information from a variety of national, state, and local databases,
* Monitors a variety of alarm systems including intrusion, fire, robbery, panic, and maintenance related systems. Analyzes alarms. Ensures appropriate response. Reports on alarm systems troubles.

Physical Demands: Incumbent must function efficiently in a confined space for extended periods with no breaks and no opportunity to leave the confines of the Communications Center. Position is sedentary with high amounts of stress. Incumbent is subject to shift work, rotating shift work, and uncommon tours of duty. Incumbent must be able to hear clearly and discern a variety of audible communications and signals simultaneously. Incumbent must be able to read critical information from multiple sources, including computer screen, fax, and written log quickly and accurately. The work is of an emergency nature and is emotionally stressful. Incumbent must possess manual dexterity sufficient to operate computer terminals/keyboards and related equipment and to maintain written logs. Work involves occasional lifting of boxes and supplies up to weights of 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: The work is normally performed in a well-lighted and temperature-controlled room. Noise levels are routinely high due to electronic equipment, telephones, radios, and other discussions ongoing in the performance of duties. The setting is typically confined and secure, and entrance and egress is controlled.

Job Summary:
Port City Ambulance Service LLC (PCAS) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ambulance Dispatcher to coordinate emergency and non-emergency medical transport services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Salt Watch Volunteer Coordination and Partnership Building
Recruit, equip and support Izaak Walton League members, partner organizations and community volunteers to serve as Salt Watch partners and volunteers in existing and new Salt Watch locations.
Coordinate and conduct in-person and online events in key locations across the U.S. to promote the Salt Watch program and facilitate new partnership and participation.
Develop advocacy resources for Salt Watch volunteers and partners to utilize when a road salt pollution problem is detected, including sample letters to government representatives and media kits.
Coordinate the timely purchasing, collating and distribution of Salt Watch kits nationally.
Communicate regularly and frequently with Salt Watch volunteers, watershed organizations and others to support local Salt Watch efforts and foster an interconnected network of Salt Watch volunteers and partners.
Establish formal partnerships with participating organizations for future collaboration and joint fundraising.
Data Management
Ensure Salt Watch data is compiled from Water Reporter and other sources on a weekly basis.
Input data into database (the Clean Water Hub) and ArcGIS to analyze trends, monitoring sites and frequency of monitoring.
Support volunteers with data management, including how to input and manage data in Water Reporter.
Support volunteer use of the Clean Water Hub to communicate with the public, policymakers and the media about water quality information collected by volunteers.
Communications
Develop content for IWLA website, social media, and publications, including Outdoor America magazine.
Serve as liaison between League members and chapters; other volunteers; state agencies responsible for water quality, public health, and natural resource management; and the national office of the IWLA.
Collaborate with the IWLA communications department to proactively engage print, broadcast and other media using Salt Watch data on a local, state and/or regional scale.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in environmental education, natural resources management, natural sciences, or related field.
At least 2 years' experience directly coordinating volunteers engaged in water quality monitoring or other citizen science activities.

Interest and demonstrated experience in environmental education, volunteer management, community outreach and water quality assessment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
* Full-Time.
* 40 hours per week.
* The Public Safety Communications Center operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
* Work periods may have permanent or rotating days off, frequently requiring the employee to work holidays, evenings, or nights.
* University Police Dispatchers will also be required to work all three shifts during their training period. They will be assigned a shift based on the needs of the department. University Police Dispatchers can be reassigned to a different shift dependent upon department needs and in accordance with agency mission.
Salary Range:
* $24.04 - $27.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* At least one year of work experience involving public contact, preferably with an emergency response agency or dispatch center.
* General knowledge of the methods of operation of telecommunication equipment and systems.
* Proficiency with records management systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), e-mail, word processing and data entry.
* Ability to work well in emergency situations; ability to work well in a stressful environment, ability to work shift work.
* Ability to work well with the public, responder agencies and co-workers; general knowledge of the geography, street and road systems and location of landmarks in the District of Columbia.
* Ability to speak distinctly with courtesy and tact.
* Ability to type 35 wpm.
* Ability to satisfactorily complete the University Police Dispatcher training program.
* Ability to obtain and maintain WALES/National Crime Information Center and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid Certifications; ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Education and Experience:
* Experience operating a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera system; experience operating an alarm monitoring system; knowledge of emergency response protocols.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
* Hiring offers for this position are contingent on the successful completion of a background check. Once hired, must be able to pass an initial drug screen and additional random or scheduled drug screens.
