Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer supports the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of assigned capital projects within aluminum extrusion, fabrication, and billet casting facilities. These projects typically range in value from $1 million to $40 million and may involve the refurbishment of existing equipment or the installation of new systems. What You Will Be Doing
* Lead the safe, timely, and cost-effective development and execution of capital projects.
* Perform mechanical engineering and design activities from concept development through project handover, in alignment with the established PESHA process.
* Execute a range of engineering tasks, including analytical problem-solving, design calculations, technical evaluations of supplier and contractor proposals, equipment and contractor selection, and drawing creation and management.

* Travel to domestic and international vendor and supplier sites as required to support project execution (up to 90%).

What Will Make You Successful
Required Education/Experience:
* Associate's degree in mechanical engineering, and or equivalent work experience is preferred.
* 5 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment and with capital project life cycle.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
* Demonstrated experience in combustion systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics (preferred).
* Hands-on experience with CNC fixturing, operation, and implementation (preferred).

RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology & Materials Innovation
Identify, evaluate, and onboard emerging raw material suppliers.
Research, vet, and implement new technologies and testing methods that enhance product performance and user safety.
Build or source new testing equipment to maintain leading-edge testing capabilities.
Lab Operations & Reporting
Develop, manage, and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the BTN lab.
Oversee equipment calibration schedules and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
Review and approve all technical reports generated by lab technicians for Below the Neck requests.
Product Development & Support
Conduct CAD modeling and 3D printing for BTN products.
Lead the HexArmor Injury Replication process - investigating incidents, storing data, and sharing insights with key stakeholders. Pioneer new testing equipment to mimic injuries in a controlled environment.
Create and maintain competitive product analyses and technical reports for the Product Team.
Partner with the VP of Product - BTN to bring strategic innovation goals to market.
Customer & Field Engagement
Participate in Below the Neck Customer Experience Center and ensure an exceptional visitor experience.
Support field sales and customer visits as a technical expert in product performance and compliance.

Create technical content for marketing, sales tools, and the “Truth in Safety” blog.

QUALIFICATIONS

Provides Engineering Design creation and analysis Support for New Product Development teams by performing large complex engineering assignments related to the development of new products. Works closely with other disciplines such as Marketing, Industrial Design, and Operations to develop these products. This position requires Experience in Pro/E CAD (version: Creo Wildfire 5) software . As our new Mechanical Project Engineer, you will use your knowledge of project management to plan and implement key capital projects, drive technology improvements, and provide engineering solutions that deliver productivity and improve operations within the business unit.
Project Engineering/Project Management 60%, Plant Support 20%, Mechanical Systems Design 20%.
Mechanical Project Engineers effectively communicate project expectations to team members, contractors and stakeholders and build effective partnerships with plant personal through the implementation of capital projects. Heavy Industrial or manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
