The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical design, sheet metal fabrication, and product development, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Provide rapid design support for sales inquiries, including custom modifications and new product configurations. Work closely with the sales team to interpret customer requests and translate them into manufacturable product specifications. Develop and modify 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks or similar software. Customize existing designs to meet customer needs while ensuring feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability. Support technical sales proposals by creating conceptual drawings, renderings, and feasibility assessments. Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure smooth implementation of customer-driven product changes. Provide technical expertise to assist sales in customer discussions and proposal development. Ensure compliance with company design standards and industry regulations. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 10+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in commercial equipment, retail fixtures, or sheet metal products. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD) for modeling and drafting. Strong background in sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies, and structural design. Ability to quickly convert customer needs into product specifications while ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency. Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with tight deadlines. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to balance multiple priorities. Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with customized display fixtures, commercial refrigeration enclosures, or similar retail equipment. Knowledge of DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) principles. Familiarity with industry regulations (NSF, UL, DOE energy standards). Responsibilities: Handle service requests, helping energy plant operators to troubleshoot plant issues. Monitor and troubleshoot operation of automated reporting systems, data collection systems, and plant SCADA systems. Travel to plant and facility locations to install or troubleshoot servers, hardware, data collection systems, plant and control systems, networking equipment, etc. Work with the Compliance Team to ensure that data collection systems are in line with contractual and permit obligations. Maintain power and renewable natural gas processes. Assist in operational plant troubleshooting, tuning, and controls. Integrate with third party equipment using industrial protocols including EthernetIP, Modbus, and others as required. Program servers with remote access capability to run HMI applications, data collection systems, “call out” notification systems and other programs and applications as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Some travel is required. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or 5 years of related experience in landfill gas to energy (LFGTE) or renewable natural gas (RNG) operations. Position Overview: Ameresco is currently seeking an Operations Engineer to work with Ameresco's Alternative Fuels group, based out of our Portland, ME office. This position supports the maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems for biomass, landfill gas to energy, automated demand response, combined heat and power, and alternative energy projects throughout the United States. Responsibilities: * Handle service requests, helping energy plant operators to troubleshoot plant issues. * Monitor and troubleshoot operation of automated reporting systems, data collection systems, and plant SCADA systems. * Travel to plant and facility locations to install or troubleshoot servers, hardware, data collection systems, plant and control systems, networking equipment, etc. * Work with the Compliance Team to ensure that data collection systems are in line with contractual and permit obligations. * Maintain power and renewable natural gas processes. * Assist in operational plant troubleshooting, tuning, and controls. * Integrate with third party equipment using industrial protocols including EthernetIP, Modbus, and others as required. * Program servers with remote access capability to run HMI applications, data collection systems, "call out" notification systems and other programs and applications as required. * Perform other duties as assigned. Some travel is required. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or 5 years of related experience in landfill gas to energy (LFGTE) or renewable natural gas (RNG) operations. Additional Qualifications: * Understanding of power plant systems and ability to troubleshoot and understand data from those systems. * Exposure to Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000 / 500 platforms and HMI and Historian software packages. * Experience configuring and maintaining Microsoft Server operating systems in a virtualized environment. * Experience configuring Ethernet-based networks using industrial control protocols including EthernetIP, Modbus TCP, and OPC. * Proficient with programming, including experience with PLC ladder logic, Visual Basic, and SQL * Proven ability to gather, validate, and analyze quantitative data and information in Excel. * Valid Drivers' License issued by state of residence and in good standing. #LI-HP1 Ameresco challenges the brightest, most talented, and creative individuals in the industry by providing an environment that fosters initiative and achievement. Must also be able to identify any/all safety concerns and regulatory violations in order to eliminate them. Ability to perform He-Leak checks of gas and vacuum systems. Comfort handling chemicals, including acids, bases, and solvents. Experience troubleshooting electrical issues.
