THE ROLE:
The Core Markets Engineering team is a fast paced and dynamic group made up of Center of Excellences (CoE)s that include Cybersecurity, Functional Safety and Embedded Software. Our charter is to support and develop high quality solutions in each of these CoEs.
THE PERSON:
In this role you would demonstrate strong skills in hardware/software design and development in security applications to support the Security CoE. The target platform the candidate will work on includes the state-of-the-art Adaptive Compute Acceleration Platform (ACAP).
KEY RESPONISIBILITES:
Define market requirements for next generation platforms and solutions
Develop security architectures in support of customer driven use cases
Support Secure Development Lifecycle Activities including TARA, Penetration Testing, internal red teams, etc.
Develop hardware and software components of reference design development with SoCs and ensure quality and on-time delivery
Work cross-functionally with marketing and other engineering groups to architect reference designs/framework solution that meets or exceed customer requirements
Work hands-on in developing hardware/software applications
Participate and resolve critical customer support cases
Develop and review critical customer facing documentation (User Guides, Application Notes, White Papers) to enhance user experience

What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a R&D S&E, Mechanical Engineer to join the Purchased Product Value Stream group. The selected candidate will be the technical interface to product realization teams and the commercial supply base for the design and delivery of mechanical parts/components used in nuclear weapon design, development, and production activities. They will also participate in the product realization process (design through delivery), including early engagement in the development phase to define, validate, and clarify requirements for mechanical parts/components destined for use in nuclear weapons.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
* Lead the identification, development, and qualification of suppliers, assessing the technical capabilities of the suppliers to meet weapons requirements.
* Lead efforts to improve fundamental understanding of material requirements, defining and conducting experiment work to close knowledge gaps and improve design definition.
* Anticipate and maintain risk (i.e., sole source suppliers, sunset materials, technology development, etc.), identifying viable alternates and leading the technical evaluations and decision-making process.

About Our Team
The Purchased Product Value Stream Department is responsible for purchased products and logistic operations in support of Sandia National Laboratories production mission activities. Major areas of responsibility include:
* Materials Planning - is responsible for developing the plan and authorizes procurement of production materials based on master schedule requirements.
* Purchased Product Engineering - is responsible for purchased products, including raw materials, tooling and end item components; serving as the liaison to design, product, and process engineers, production users, and suppliers in the areas of design definition, coordination of fabrication, and acceptance requirements.
* Inventory Management & Logistics - provides services in inventory management, materials movement, receiving, and shipping.

Summary:

* Develop and execute optimization projects to improve line efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance equipment performance.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Validation, and Quality) to ensure smooth operation and compliance with cGMP standards.
* Author and review equipment-related documentation, including SOPs, change controls, CAPAs, and technical reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for daily packaging operations, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent product quality.

Education and Experience:

Strong understanding of GMP, cGMP, and FDA regulations preferred.

Create 3D models and associated drawings to support manufacturing, testing, and other engineering needs.
Support the creation of internal standards and tools for lithography mask layout and other CAD applications.
Partner with Project Field Application Engineers and Project Managers to aid design integration into the Fab.
Develop test structures and Design of Experiments to validate novel concepts and structures for risk mitigation.
Produce data reports that are concise and easy to understand.
Work directly and independently with customers to iterate on designs, refining them for successful fabrication.
Support pre-fabrication processes, including project onboarding & quoting.
Provide support for post-fabrication activities, including testing and assembly operations.
Coding and testing software.
Create plans and profile drawings.
Finding technical solutions to meet a clients goals.
Training and offering support and guidance to their team.
Additional functions and duties assigned as required.
Requirements
Bachelors Degree preferred.
3+ years of experience in AutoCAD or other CAD packages.
This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information, and employees in these roles will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship due to government contracts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Familiarity with 2D CAD layout with complex Layer configurations (100+ Layers).
Ability to read and understand drawings and associated standards.
Ability to convert customer drawings into 2D CAD layouts following documented standards.
Ability to design 3D CAD models to support mechanical requirements provided by engineering staff.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Ability to learn software programs such as Autodesk CAD platforms.
Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
