    Job DescriptionDescription: · Requires the ability to read drawings and follow instructions, use precision measuring tools and to set up and operate engine (manual) lathes. Reports directly to supervisor, Machine Shop, or his/her designate. Job Tasks: · Performs turning, facing, boring, threading, reaming, and other standard lathe operations. · Selects and adjusts, feeds, speeds, and tooling. · Maintains quality standards to tolerances as required involving these of scale, micrometer, calipers, dial indicator, plug gauge, and other measuring devices. · May be required to grind high speed and carbide cutting tools. · Work may require the use of hand or power operated material handling equipment. · Will be required to supply several personal tools such as scale, square, tape, hammer, wrench, dial calipers, etc. · Observes safe work procedures and maintains good housekeeping standards. · Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and his/her designate. Requirements: Education and Experience Required: · High school diploma or GED and BOCES required. · Must pass proficiency test. Working Conditions: · May be required to move items up to 60 pounds for distances of up to 10 feet. May be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time. Considerable amount of work done above floor level. May be exposed to fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels. Must wear appropriate gear and clothing as necessary.
