Inspect assigned vehicle per the PBPS pre-trip inspection guidelines and procedures daily, and report any defective findings to the Transportation Supervisor to be fixed immediately
Recommend measures to improve the performance of the transportation department
Ensure the mail is reviewed for proper dates, presort slugs and a pick-up slip is attached with each order prior to loading on the truck
Ensure all drivers are compliant with DOT regulations; assist in maintaining DOT files
Maintain a daily vehicle inspection report
Maintain a daily driver's log or route sheet for mileage and cargo
Ensure USPS equipment is used only for the movement of “Live” mail
Return client damaged or undeliverable mail, following internal handling procedures for damaged secured mail
Use all required cell phone applications

Assist in Quality Control or Barcode department between assigned pick-ups

As a Lead Driver, you have:
Valid state motor vehicle operator's license in state where driver resides (CDL Class A) and meet applicable DOT requirements for CDL
Minimum of six months verifiable driving experience and a minimum of 75,000 miles in the last five years driving a tractor trailer (semi) truck with safe driving record
Minimum age, 21
Ability to drive any company vehicle
Ability to operate a vehicle in compliance with Hours of Service regulations and company hours-worked program

* Prepare truck at end of each workday with Diesel, DEF and all oils required for the following day service route
