Performs typical production functions to include operating equipment, moving material, verifying dimensions, and required quality inspections.

Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the Production Supervisor/Manager.
Performs operator level Preventative Maintenance, Checks and Services on machines as required.
May operate a forklift if certified to do so.

Education and/or Experience:

Additionally, a crucial skill set includes the ability to read and interpret various documents such as prints, production orders, safety rules, as well as operating and maintenance instructions. Language skills:
The position requires strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team, demonstrating sound judgment in decision-making. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations; ability to convert metric units correctly and apply the conversions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:

Anyone entering the Production floor must follow the GMP rules outlined in their employee handbook which includes the required hairnets, beard covers, hearing protection, and safety glasses. Production Operators follow all SOPs including quality checks and procedures for all operations. Production Operators also follow HACCP & SQF requirements for food quality and safety.
Essential Job Duties:
Preforms basic machine operations to include operating machines, stacking raw materials, handling finished product cases, preforming quality inspections and making minor machine adjustments.
Monitors the flow of outgoing finished goods and corrects any disturbance in the flow of those goods.
Cleans equipment and line continually throughout the shift and maintains a clean safe work area.
Expedites repairs to the line working with maintenance as necessary.
Keeps daily records of downtime and machine operations.
Follows SOPs for all operations.
Maintains a clean, orderly and safe area at all times.
Must follow all established GMP's.
Non-Essential Job Duties:
Will perform other related work as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.

About the Role:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of heavy machinery used in port operations, including wheel loaders, excavators, forklifts, skid steers, material handlers and haul trucks. This role supports the loading and unloading of vessels, movement of bulk materials, and general yard operations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, experienced with heavy equipment, and comfortable working in a fast-paced maritime environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Operate heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport bulk materials such as aggregates, scrap, or cargo.
* Assist with vessel operations, including material handling and staging.
* Operate Haul Truck to efficiently transport bulk materials to Carver storage facilities
* Perform daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
* Maintain clean and organized work areas, including docks, yards, and storage zones.
* Follow all safety protocols and operational procedures in compliance with OSHA and port regulations.
* Communicate with supervisors, crane operators, and ground personnel to coordinate movements.
* Assist with minor equipment maintenance such as greasing, fueling, and fluid checks.
* Support other terminal operations as needed, including general labor or cleanup tasks.
* Accurately complete equipment logs and shift reports.
Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial or construction setting.
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
* Ability to operate at least two types of equipment (e.g., loader, forklift, excavator).
* Strong understanding of equipment safety and maintenance practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working in a port, terminal, or marine environment.
* OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
* TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or ability to obtain one.
* Familiarity with bulk material handling and vessel loading procedures.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
* Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and operating equipment in outdoor conditions.
* Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
* Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety boots, gloves, and high-visibility clothing.
