Adjusts and operates all machinery relating to the decorating and coating (both internally and externally) of can bodies. This includes the operation of the printer, attachments, coating ovens and the internal and bottom coating equipment as well as the mechanical control devices.
Examines cans which have been washed, decorated, and coated to determine conformance to specifications; make adjustments to equipment, such as registry, ink distribution, spray angles and patterns, etc. to restore operations to requirements; assists maintainer with correction of problems.
Inspects equipment to prevent breakdowns, lubricates and makes adjustments for wear. Keep machines clean and operational.
Reads and follows procedural manuals, manufacturers' equipment guide, operating records, production logs, and maintenance requirements.
Service equipment by adding oil or lubricants and inks and lacquers to reservoirs; mounts and installs new plates and blankets; clears jams in machines and transfer equipment.
Observes safety regulations and practices to afford protection to both self and others; sees that equipment and floors are maintained in a neat and clean manner at all times, cares for and protects assigned tools and instruments.
Refers unusual or critical needs to supervisor.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Familiar with personal protective equipment.
Mechanically inclined; familiar with hand tools.
Familiar with proper handling of chemicals/solvents.
Familiar with material safety data sheets.
1 year of inside spray preferred
Experience in manufacturing preferred
Decorator/Printer Operator Experience preferred.
Ability to navigate computer-based programs.
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Able to stand for a long duration of time in excess of 8 hours a day.
Able to bend over and rotate body repeatedly.
Able to lift 40 pounds overhead.
Able to withstand heat, cold, vibrations, odors/fumes and loud noise.
Able to climb stairs frequently.
