Under general supervision of the Public Works Director or Team Leader III, operates a variety of tools, automotive vehicles, light and moderately heavy equipment in the maintenance of grounds, streets and other city property as designated. Will include operation of bucket truck with a 65' vertical boom reach.
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring screening for illegal substance and alcohol use
. Work is reviewed through observation upon work completion for compliance with work orders and established policies and procedures. Performs other work as requested.
Examples of Essential Functions
Operates a wide range of vehicles including but not limited to, front loaders, backhoes, bush hogs, trucks, trailers, tractors, bucket truck, dump truck, and genie lift.
Trims vegetation for assigned parks; mows, trims, edges and maintains parks.
Operates a variety of power and hand tools including mowers, weed eaters, shovels, rakes, pokers, all size chainsaws, and paint machines.
Picks up debris and deceased animals from city streets in order to maintain the cleanliness of public areas.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have valid FL CDL, Class "B", or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities:
Technical skilled work involving activities and functions pertaining to aspects of the Public Works Department including but not limited to the operation of specified medium or heavy equipment, performance of skilled and semi-skilled professional, physical, labor intensive work involving storm water drainage swales, rights-of-ways, greenbelts, storm water drainage, right-of-way ditches, and roadway maintenance. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.

Operation of gasoline, diesel, and electric powered equipment such as walk-behind rollers, jackhammer/air compressor, trenchers, pumps, oxy-acetylene torch, vibratory compactors, chain saw, chipper/stump grinder, concrete/asphalt saws, circular saw, generator, portable cement mixer, hand tools, and other similar equipment.
Performs heavy manual labor such as digging, lifting, placement of various pipes (i.e. reinforced concrete pipes and plastic poly pipe), and installation of swale liner.
Prepares work area for sod installation and/or performs landscape maintenance.
Operates small machinery/hand tools (i.e. concrete cutting saw, and tamper), prepares forms, and performs concrete finishing work.
Performs all assigned maintenance tasks associated with the repair and resurfacing of City roadways including filling potholes, making street cuts using asphalts saws, using tampers and hot asphalt.
Hauls a variety of material to/from the job site to facilitate completion of assigned projects.
Performs preventative maintenance on several pieces of equipment.
May work under the direction of a Crew Leader, other Supervisor and/or Manager from the Public Works Department.
May be required to work hours other than the standard day shift should an emergency arise.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:

Educations and Experience:
