Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices. Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes. Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data. Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material. Responsible for machine change over and appropriate material setup. Examine work area at beginning and ending of each shift and during any machine changeover for safety and proper operations. Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws. Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers. Safely and efficiently prepares material for shipping. This includes proper identification, tagging and wrapping. Required to be a team player and collaborate with various departments to meet customer satisfaction.     Job Details Instrument Development Company - Mukwonago, WI Full Time First Shift ManufacturingDescription We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mill-Turn Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC mill-turn machines to produce high-precision parts according to engineering specifications. The mill-turn Operator will play a vital role in ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and safety in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBITIES: Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC mill-turn (or other relevant machinery) to perform precision turning/milling operations different alloys and other materials according to design specifications. Programming: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and machine setup sheets to determine appropriate machining procedures. Use CNC programming software (Esprit) or manual programming to set up machining jobs. Quality Control: Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet specified dimensions and quality standards. Follow Quality plan requirements. Tool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on turning mills, including tool changes, cleaning, and lubrication. Report any mechanical issues and collaborate with maintenance teams when needed. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols. Ensure that the work area is kept clean and organized, and that all machines are operated safely and efficiently. Troubleshooting: Identify issues with machine operation, tooling, or materials and troubleshoot to minimize downtime and ensure continued production. Documentation: Complete production reports, track parts produced, and update job sheets with necessary data. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections. Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, quality control teams, and supervisors to ensure timely and quality production. All other duties as assigned Qualifications DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Experience with multi-axis CNC turning mills and advanced machine tools. Knowledge of tooling selection and optimization. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating CNC Mill/Turn or similar machines in a manufacturing environment. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of CNC programming, machine setup, and operation. Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems is a plus. Familiar with Mill/Turn equipment. Attention to Detail: Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Precision in measuring and inspecting parts. Knowledge of GD&T. Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve production-related issues quickly and effectively. Safety Knowledge: Understanding of OSHA and other safety regulations related to machine operation and workplace safety. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time. Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Position Summary The Heavy Equipment Operator works on various construction sites to operate one or several types of power construction equipment, such as excavators, motor graders, skid loaders, bulldozers, scrapers, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth.
