* Frequent gross body movements such as bending, climbing into equipment, lifting (up to 75lbs), twisting, standing, balancing, stooping, handling materials, moving around hazardous sites.
* Good Eye to Hand coordination a must. Depth perception required.
* High School diploma/GED preferred.
* Flexible availability to include overtime and possible weekends and nights.

Job Description
A respected leader in the building materials industry is seeking a dependable and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to support operations at its quarry and materials site. This hands-on role is responsible for operating and maintaining various heavy equipment used for site preparation, excavation, grading, and material handling. The ideal candidate will bring a safety-first mindset, experience operating construction equipment, and a willingness to support a variety of duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Operate a range of heavy equipment, including water trucks, graders, front-end loaders, crushers, and excavators, to support daily production and site preparation.
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on vehicles, including checking oil, water, tire pressure, and reporting repair needs to management.
Use graders to level surfaces and prepare job sites according to project requirements.
Support general landscaping, ground maintenance, and related assignments to ensure site readiness and compliance.
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by following all safety policies, wearing PPE, and adhering to OSHA/MSHA regulations.
Perform daily housekeeping of work area, conduct workplace safety inspections, and follow plant procedures including lockout/tagout and confined space entry protocols.
Assist with loading and transporting materials as needed.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and visitors to ensure efficient and safe operations.
Maintain equipment and work areas in clean, operational condition to prevent delays and hazards.
Carry out other job-related tasks as assigned by the Area Manager or Plant Supervisor.
Complete other general labor duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment (construction or industrial environment preferred).
Must be able to work weekends and a flexible schedule.
Must have experience operating a Front End Loader.
Ability to safely operate graders, excavators, loaders, and water trucks.
Knowledge of basic vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance procedures.
Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in a physically demanding outdoor environment.
Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and environmental guidelines.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team, following directions and adapting to changing priorities.
Willingness to be trained on OSHA/MSHA regulations and plant-specific safety procedures.
