Job Summary The Mill Feed Operator I is responsible for maintaining safe and effective operations within the Mill and Feedhouse Departments. They will work with Laborers, Utilities, and Feed and Mill Operator II's to accomplish assigned tasks throughout their shift. Essential Job Functions • Monitor and make adjustments to process as needed utilizing the D/3 computer system • Operate equipment within parameters to achieve desired results • Start up and shut down as determined by plant rates • Troubleshoot mechanical and process problems • Take readings on equipment as required by departmental policies • Samples product throughout the process to maintain quality and specifications • Perform environmental verifications and record as needed • Basic oiling and greasing of equipment • Train employees new to position • Perform lock outs on assigned equipment • Assist in the review and creation of production SOPs • Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements • Maintain a clean work area through performance of housekeeping duties • Completes all required documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations • Informs supervisor and affected personnel immediately of any hazards, unsafe equipment and/or acts • Follow standard operating procedures, temporary work instructions, and process plans • Other duties as assigned Minimum Job Requirements • Knowledge of the process • Basic computer skills • Self-motivated with ability to work under minimal supervision • Strong commitment to safety • Be able to perform basic mechanical functions • Ability to use basic hand tools including but not limited to channel-lock pliers, valve, and pipe wrenches • Able to understand and comply with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements • Strong problem-solving ability to troubleshoot as needed Physical/Mental Requirements The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. inspect and maintain plant equipment, steam turbines, power boilers, turbine driven generators, mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, fuel systems, ash handling equipment, lubricating systems, and water recirculation and treatment systems; monitor the automatic control functions of auxiliary equipment; manually operate breakers, circuits, valves, switches and similar equipment; determine operating status of equipment from previous shift personnel, log book entries, local inspection and observation of equipment, instrumentation, and controls; review and edit station's operating procedures and technical instructions; operate ash and slag handling equipment; is a member of the station's fire brigade or acts as station fire guide for outside fire departments; ensure maintenance requests are completed to a satisfactory standard; assist in planning, organizing, and executing unit outages for inspections, overhauls, repairs and cleaning. + Prepare work permits and administer the SAFE Access to Plant, or similar systems, as it applies to the equipment for which the Equipment Operator is responsible. + Perform disconnect switching and electrical and maintenance operations to place equipment in and out of service; render electrical circuits and mechanical equipment safe for permit work. + Monitor and as necessary perform routine chemical analysis of plant water to determine the chemical constituents and take corrective action to maintain plant quality within prescribed limits as required. + Prepare, maintain, and administer procedures and reports related to the operation, monitoring and maintenance of the plant;
