Summary: The Assistant Press Operator assists the Press Operator and Lead Press operator in the basic setup and maintenance of the presses verifying proper paper sheet sizes and types. They are also responsible for ensuring that all presses are supplied and fed with required quantities of paper and other consumables.
Schedule:
3rd shift, Sunday - Thursday, eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. Primary schedule will be 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM, or similar. Training may occur at other times.

Assists with managing the preparation of next jobs to be printed

Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
Ensure all equipment, tools, and workstation are in good working order and is free of safety hazards
Report workplace hazards to management immediately

Keep all work area/station in compliance with our housekeeping guidelines

Heavy equipment include large track-type tractors (Cat D-6 or larger), large-earth-moving equipment, motor graders, cranes, heisters, large loaders (usually over 1 ½ cubic yard capacity), forklifts (including 2 ½ ton capacity), trenching machines (over 30" depth), large backhoes, large bulldozers, asphalt paving machines, large rollers (eight ton and over) used for improvement of campus roads, parking lots, building site preparation, etc., and operate large tow trucks, tractor semi-trailer combinations such as those used for hauling extremely heavy machinery, equipment, and other materials.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Must possess a valid California Driver's license; be licensed appropriately for each vehicle operated and may be required by the California Vehicle Code to carry appropriate certification while driving. Equivalent to one year of heavy equipment operation, including regular or intermittent operation of vehicles, preferably related to heavy construction such as large track-type tractors, large tow trucks, tractor semitrailer combinations, bulldozers, or land planes and involving routine service and minor maintenance of the vehicles operated. Incumbent is required to have knowledge of the rules of safe driving and the provisions of the State of California Vehicle Code pertaining to operation of vehicles described in the classification; knowledge of State and California General Industrial Safety orders related to the assigned tasks of the classification, particularly those related to vehicle and equipment operation, construction methods and practices, and the lifting and moving of heavy loads. Ability to: operate assigned equipment safely; recognize safety hazards and follow practices and laws to insure safety; follow manuals and guidelines pertaining to operation of State vehicles; load and unload vehicles correctly and safely; follow oral and written instructions; read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other people; service and make routine repairs of equipment operated; and perform manual labor by the duties of the position. Must possess a valid California Driver's license; be licensed appropriately for each vehicle operated and may be required by the California Vehicle Code to carry appropriate certification while driving. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Compensation: $22.00/hour to $24.00/hour (depending on experience)
Responsibilities
* Operate and monitor assigned machinery and equipment according to established procedures and safety standards.
* Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.
* Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine job instructions.
* Inspect parts and finished products for quality and accuracy using measuring tools.
* Record production data, including output, downtime, and defects.
* Adjust machine settings as necessary to maintain product specifications and minimize waste.
* Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals.
* Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to maintenance or supervisory staff.
* Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and quality control standards.
Skills / Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED is a plus; vocational or technical training preferred.
* Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus.
* Experience operating or working with mills (manual or CNC) or other metalworking machinery is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with machining processes such as cutting, drilling, or grinding.
* Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
* Basic math and measurement skills.
* Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, or schematics.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as needed.
Work Environment:
* Regular standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
* Use of hands and manual dexterity for precise machining and tool work.
* Exposure to loud noises, coolant, sharp tools, and metal shavings.
