ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: Palletizer Operator -- Night Shift Monday - Friday 09:30pm - 06:00am The hourly wage for this position is $27.51, plus $1.00/hour shift dif. ROLE SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Warehouse Coordinator, this position will operate the palletizers, stretch wrappers and associated equipment in the warehouse. Additionally, Palletizer Operators will also be responsible for performing all functions of Warehouse Operator, when required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions): * Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness within their area. Support and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures at all times. * Directs product workflow from stretch wrappers to storage locations. * Maintains adequate supply of empty pallets for palletizer utilization. * Coordinates changeovers of palletizers and stretch wrappers. * Coordinates end of work orders with Manufacturing Technical Line Operators and other operations personnel. * Ensures line clearance during changeover to new work order. * Mechanical operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and PM's on all palletizers, stretch wrappers, pallet labeling system (PLS) and associated equipment. * Supplies raw materials as needed to equipment in palletizer area, such as stretch wrap, labels, ribbon, etc. * Inspects pallets against quality standards and documents results. * Assists with training and certification program as needed. * Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * High school diploma or GED required. * 2 years of experience in distribution operations, including equipment, materials, workflow, WMS, and stand-up forklift experience in a fast-paced distribution environment required. PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * Mechanical and technical ability, ability to troubleshoot, perform PM's, etc. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * Strong interpersonal skills - ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization. * Strong communications skills - ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media - verbal, written, etc. * Must have ability to communicate clearly in English - verbal and written. * Strong organizational/time management skills. REQUIRED TRAINING: Candidates are required to complete all necessary trainings within the defined introductory period. WORKING CONDITIONS: The operations is not in a climate controlled environment. The Excavator Operator is responsible for safely operating the equipment to perform activities to include excavating, backfilling, trenching, ditching, and clean up, in support of underground utility projects. The Excavator Operator is responsible for the safety of employees, pedestrians, traffic, and equipment that enter their work area. The operator must be able to achieve maximum production from the equipment and have knowledge of hazards associated with equipment operation. Responsibilities: Operate the equipment in a proper and safe manner in support of underground utility projects. Visually check for utilities, if utility locates are not marked or cannot be defined. Inspect and conduct general maintenance to the equipment. Assist the fuel driver in fueling your equipment. Grease the equipment daily. Keep equipment clean from dirt and excess grease. Change buckets on equipment. Check oil, battery, transmission, hydraulic systems, tires, radiators, tracks, and back-up alarms for the proper levels or operation prior to starting the day's work. An equipment inspection report must be filled out and turned in weekly to either your foreman or your designated shop facility. Report all equipment breakdowns immediately. Take direction from the Foreman or in their absence their designated appointee. Always be near or on the machine during the day unless you are directed otherwise by a supervisor. Assist the crew in other useful work as directed, when the machine is not in use. Attend weekly tool-box talks and all other company safety meetings. Work in all types of weather conditions or climate, unless there is an immediate threat of danger. Requirements: Must have 2 years of prior experience operating an excavator in support of underground utility projects. Must possess a current DC Operators License. Knowledgeable about the machine, its correct method of operation, and limitations.
