Job Duties:

The EMT will respond to EMS calls as assigned by the communications center, observing First-Care's policies on “out of chute” and “end of shift” time.
The EMT will know and follow all First-Care policies and procedures regarding normal operations and treat all First-Care customers, patients, fellow employees, and vendors with honesty and respect according to First-Care's Code of Conduct.
The EMT will observe a strict standard of patient confidentiality regarding the access, possession, or transmission of personal health information (PHI) per First-Care's privacy policies.
The EMT will safeguard all patient protected health information in accordance with First-Care privacy practices, federal and state law, and professional standards.
The EMT will report any concerns regarding breaches of confidentiality or violations of policy to the Legal Department in person, by email, or anonymously as permitted by federal regulation.
The EMT will be courteous and professional at all times. Sarcasm, argumentativeness, and hostility are not acceptable behaviors.
Prior to each shift and in accordance with Indiana law, the EMT will account for, inspect, and certify the operability of all required basic equipment on the assigned unit.
The EMT will maintain in-service education as prescribed by the State EMS Agency.
The EMT will operate assigned vehicles and conduct themselves according to law and First-Care's safety policies, including all procedures designed to ensure crew and patient safety.
The EMT will submit documentation that is complete, accurate, and timely prior to leaving his/her shift.
The EMT will help maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment by performing cleaning chores as requested in both vehicles and stations.
The EMT will report all vehicle problems and submit required reports for repair per First-Care procedure.
The EMT will maintain physical fitness sufficient to perform lifting, bending, stooping, and other physical activity without injury.

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our dedicated team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about animal care and has a strong background in veterinary surgery.
We are specifically looking for a candidate who can confidently lead and manage the surgical element of our practice, including preparation, monitoring, and post-operative care. The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience in veterinary surgical procedures

A Credentialed Veterinary Technician (Vet Tech) is a highly skilled professional who works alongside veterinarians, applying their expertise to ensure the health and well-being of animals. Vet Techs are integral to the functioning of our veterinary clinics, participating in a myriad of responsibilities that go beyond basic care. Licensed Key aspects of their job:
Medical Procedures Assistance: Participate in medical procedures, including surgery assistance, anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostic imaging. Utilize advanced training to handle complex clinical tasks.
Laboratory Work: Conduct various laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis, contributing essential diagnostic information for veterinarians to make informed decisions about a patient's care.
Patient Care and Monitoring: Play a pivotal role in post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and ensuring the overall comfort and recovery of animals.
Educating Pet Owners: Engage with pet owners, providing valuable information about post-treatment care, medication administration, and preventive health measures, fostering a collaborative approach to animal well-being.
EXPANDED DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in surgical procedures, preparing the operating room, handling instruments, and providing support to veterinarians during surgery.
Monitor anesthesia during procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of animals under sedation.
Collect blood samples, conduct hematological analyses, and interpret results to aid in diagnosing various medical conditions.
Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays, is crucial for identifying internal issues in animals.
Oversee the recovery of patients, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and providing comfort to animals post-surgery.
Administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians, ensuring proper dosage and monitoring for any adverse reactions.
Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, including medication administration, wound care, and signs of potential complications.
Offer guidance on preventive health measures, nutrition, and routine care empowers pet owners to maintain the well-being of their animals.

Education and Training:
Hold an associate degree in veterinary technology from an accredited program.
Sit for or successfully passed a national licensing exam.
Skills and Attributes:
Demonstrate a strong foundation in science, effective communication skills, and a genuine compassion for animals.
Be detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and able to handle the emotional aspects of working in animal healthcare.
Certification and Licensure:
Meet state licensing requirements via certification. Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is a common requirement.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The ED Tech provides direct patient care under the guidance of a RN or designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization.
Essential Job Functions
· Provides basic patient care and tasks to include, but not limited to, care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, assists with mobility, performs lab draws, ECG's, basic wound care, and other unit-based specialty duties under the direction of an RN.
· Completes patient rounding as assigned.
· Provides 1:1 patient safety companion service as needed.
· Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
· Provides high level customer service to all patients, patient's families, community providers, visitors, and employees.
· Provides accurate, precise, timely documentation as applicable to patient care.
· Participates in handoff report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
· Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
