Key Responsibilities
Site Preparation: Clear debris, sweep surfaces, and prepare job sites by setting up traffic control devices, string lines, or grade stakes as directed.
Material Handling: Shovel, rake, and spread hot mix asphalt to assist in filling voids, creating smooth transitions, and preparing the mat for compaction.
Support Paving Operations: Load asphalt into paver hoppers, clean excess material from equipment, and assist in guiding trucks to ensure continuous material flow.
Surface Finishing: Use hand tools (e.g., lutes, rakes, shovels) to smooth edges, fill low spots, and prepare asphalt for rolling; assist with applying sealants or tack coats as needed.
Equipment Maintenance: Clean tools, pavers, and rollers at the end of shifts, and assist with fueling or minor upkeep tasks to keep equipment operational.

Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Experience working in a fast-paced environment

Ability to meet department standards for productivity and quality
