We are looking for qualified candidates who are willing to travel between northwest regional offices (Streamwood, Bloomingdale, Schaumburg, East Dundee) when needed. Bloomingdale will remain your primary office and mileage expenses will be reimbursed if needed to travel to other offices.

Summary:

The position of an Optician is a key part to our Optical Team. This team works together to serve all patient needs related to eye wear. The team is responsible for generating revenue through the sale of these products in a retail environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Providing excellent patient service

· Adhere to privacy, confidential and proprietary company policies and procedures (HIPAA)

· Frame styling, for comfort and optimal visual performance along with Eyewear adjustment and repair

· Communication with Optometrist regarding patient needs and recommendations

· Placing and receiving laboratory orders

· Ensuring all orders arrive and are to the specifications of the patient

· Enhances optical center reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

· Posts charges and payments along with obtaining insurance authorizations

· Professional phone etiquette and provide general administrative support

· Directly greet and service patients for scheduled appointments as well as impromptu visits

Delivers extraordinary experience to each and every patient. Provides patients with a complete understanding of our customized recommendations for products and services.
Develops own clientele from providing outstanding service and obtaining referrals.
Keeps current on company/industry products and procedures, manufacturer rebates, and types of lenses and frames available.
Takes and returns patient calls, updating patients on the status of their order and resolving order issues should they arise. Escalates any issues with the Store Manager, as necessary.
Retrieves patient charts and electronic health records.
Assists patients in selecting frames, lens type, and lens treatments including tints and coatings; depending on specific patient needs and facial measurements.
Educates patients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care.
Collect eye and face measurements to ensure proper fit.
Interprets prescriptions written by optometrist and ophthalmologist.
Creates work orders for lab technicians, specifying information on lenses needed.
Follows-up on all pending orders. Verifies all orders are within the time guidelines given and informs patients of status if delays occur. Notifies patient when orders arrive from lab/manufacturer.
Dispenses glasses by inspecting the product, checking for proper fit, adjusting if necessary, and asking for feedback.
Adjusts eyewear to ensure visual acuity, proper fit, and patient comfort. Using various tools, performs eyewear adjustments and repairs.
Proficient in using tools such as pupilometers, PD Sticks, lensometers, pliers, wrenches, frame warmers, etc.
Inspects the final product ensuring there are no flaws; Cleans and polishes lenses using cloths and solvents.
Cleans and organizes frame boards, displays, mirrors, work bench, office area, bathroom, and breakroom, maintaining overall cleanliness and visual appeal of the store.
Restocks retail boards with new merchandize.
Understands product issues and analyzes any problems. Thoroughly and accurately answers patients' questions regarding insurance, warranty, products, materials, services, pricing, upgrades, promotions, etc.
Collaborates with technicians, front desk associates, Managers, and Optometrist.
Sells miscellaneous products such as cleaners, contact lens supply, sunglasses, safety glasses, etc. Qualifications Qualifications
High School Diploma
Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred
Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Dependability and punctuality
Ability to lift up to 30lbs, bend, kneel, and stand up to 8hrs a day Pay Range:

Responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical aids, to both adults and children, working with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. This position advises and assists patients with various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including style, weight and color.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

+ Verifies order data entry, comparing Rx to original Rx provided from the doctor assuring all information entered in the system is accurate.

+ Completes proper order filing procedures including filing the order under the correct ABC system in the store.

+ Delivers sales by providing excellent Member service in person and over the phone. Must be able to explain in detail all procedures included under the exam fee; being open and honest in communication and maintaining a friendly pleasant demeanor with Members at all time.

+ Takes measurements, assures correct frame selection for Rx power, reads prescriptions on the lensometer, timely notification of product readiness and advancement of the order in the system: including received, notified and dispense of each job and proper handling of all money related transactions.

+ Adheres to all privacy and confidential/proprietary company policies and procedures (i.e. Health Information Portability and Accountability Act, known as HIPAA) as required by law. Provides support to Members in making eyeglass adjustments and repairs.

+ Assists Optical Manager with the opening and closing procedures at the beginning and end of shift. Ensures that accurate funds are collected, and payments are made at the point of service.

+ Maintains all club policies and procedures.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

+ Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.

+ High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, optical experience is preferred.

+ Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and an attention to detail required.

+ Open shift availability required.

+ At least 18 years of age.

Environmental Job Conditions

+ Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. There may be a need to occasionally position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.

+ Frequently requires lifting objects up to 20 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 20 pounds with assistance.

+ Located in a comfortable indoor area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
