Overview
Position Summary: The Optometrist evaluates patients with potential eye or vision problems referred by pediatricians. Obtains medical history and performs eye examinations for patients in the Vision Center. Treats Optometric conditions and triages ophthalmic conditions to appropriate pediatric ophthalmologist. Also performs a variety of patient activities to assist physicians and division personnel.
Minimum Qualifications: 2+ years practice in optometry with emphasis on children, contact lens fitting, and pediatric refractions. Completion of an optometry residency program highly preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art examining procedures and equipment, and contact lens materials and designs. Ability to put infants and children at ease while conducting eye examinations and fitting contact lenses. Candidates who have just completed pediatric fellowship will be considered.
