You're a fully licensed psychiatrist with your DEA or CDS number, ANCC board certification, a valid NPI number and malpractice insurance.

The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive mental health care to patients in a correctional setting, including psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for individuals with mental health disorders. Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to those with disorders such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and others.
Develop individualized treatment plans, based on patients' unique needs. Update treatment plans based on ongoing evaluations.
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications as part of treatment plans. Conduct regular reviews to assess treatment plans.
Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to diagnose mental health conditions and determine the appropriate course of treatment.
Provide psychiatric crisis intervention for inmates experiencing acute mental health episodes or emotional distress.
Offer individual and group psychotherapy sessions.
Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients with complex mental health and medical needs.
Provide mental health education to inmates, correctional staff, and other personnel, to help reduce stigma surrounding mental illness.
Document promptly and properly.
Conduct regular risk assessments for suicidal ideation, violent behavior, and other potential harm.
Ensure informed consent for treatment and patient confidentiality, and adhere to ethical guidelines set forth by psychiatric governing bodies.
Provide expert psychiatric consultation to other healthcare providers and correctional staff as appropriate.
Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts to improve patient care.
Provide supervision and guidance to psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, psychologists, and other behavioral health staff.
Conduct training for correctional staff to help recognize signs of mental illness and how to interact with inmates with mental health issues.
Provide on-call services as needed, including after-hours psychiatric care for inmates experiencing psychiatric crises or severe distress.
Collaborate with correctional officers and facility leadership to ensure psychiatric services are provided in a safe and secure environment.
