Length: 6-12 months (option to extend) Location: Nashville, TN Pay: TOP HOURLY RATE Contract Description/Overview: Your services support the Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations program. Veterans are scheduled for appointments at contracted facilities for compensation and pension exams and embeds practitioners in facilities as needs warrant. Dedicated facilities are in areas where there is a large Veteran population with the potential for high volume. The compensation and pension exam helps the VA answer questions about Veterans' current health. The practitioners will not decide the percent of disability or rating, develop treatment plans, or prescribe medication. Completed documentation is sent to the VA for final determination on all disability claims. Prior to the exam, the practitioner reviews a Veteran's medical or mental health history, using electronic bookmarks that highlight the portions applicable to the Veteran's claimed condition. The practitioner is guided through a web-based examination form in LHI's Provider Portal to capture the Veteran's responses during the exam. Electronic exam documentation is known as a Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) and must be submitted promptly within 48 hours of each appointment. The number of DBQs completed per exam will vary based on the Veteran's claimed conditions. Administrative time is provided to complete exam documentation and ensure timely submission. The documentation is reviewed by a team of medical professionals to ensure contract compliance and guarantee the verbiage aligns with customer requirements. Requests for changes or corrections to exam documentation must be submitted within 48 hours of the appointment. Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for Veterans. The Practitioner will capture responses during the exam through a web-based examination form; all documentation will be completed electronically. Completed exams are sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations. Optometry exams are scheduled in 60+ minutes for a comprehensive eye exam for evaluating loss of vision, glaucoma, injury to eye, etc. •• Visual Field Testing may be required; equipment will be supplied Education/Qualifications Qualified candidates must be an actively licensed Optometrist (Doctor of Optometry) or BC/BE Ophthalmologist (Physician). Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team regarding provision of quality care. Provides continuity of care to patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting to achieve optimal patient outcomes and patient satisfaction. Provides onboarding and orientation of new APPs to inpatient role as necessary. Participates in the development of educational materials for patients and healthcare providers. Presents updates in cancer care and specialty specific information to professionals at the local, regional, and national levels. Recognizes the value of providing oncology education and support to the lay community by participating in community discussions, support groups, and informal consultation. III) Communication Reports patient information in an accurate, timely manner. Complies with inpatient Epic documentation requirements. Edits dictation. Works effectively with others and utilizes the chain of command. Collaborates with other health disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care. Represents the APP in department and board meetings and shares information with the APP group. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Current knowledge of inpatient malignant hematology/oncology and cellular therapy Ability to work independently. Knowledge of Tennessee Oncology Advanced Practice Provider Collaborative Practice Guidelines. Knowledge of the Advanced Practice Provider as outlined in the Tennessee Oncology Policy and Procedure Manual. Skills certification as required by the APPs specific role including but not limited to, BMBx, skin punch biopsies, paracentesis, and specialized accessing of chemotherapy delivery devices. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: License to practice as NP or PA in the state of Tennessee required. Master's degree in nursing or certification as a Physician Assistant required. National certification as Nurse Practitioner (American Nurses' Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners) or Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required.
