Corporate Office Location; Capitol Hill, 5-minute walk from Union Station
Work schedule: 8 -16 hours per week
Pay: $100 per hour
Responsibilities:
Provide basic eye examinations to children between the ages of 4 and 12
Conduct basic eye examinations to assess vision and ocular health in a mobile setting.
Diagnose and treat visual conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Prescribe eyeglasses or refer clients with complex issues to specialists in pediatric ophthalmology, as needed
Educate clients on proper eye care and hygiene practices
Maintain accurate records for each client
Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical standards, including HIPAA regulations
Collaborate with our team of healthcare professionals to ensure the child is receiving the necessary care and referrals.
Travel 100% of the time
Occasional weekend and evening work will be required
Perform other duties and projects, as required
Qualifications:
US Citizen
Valid driver's license in the Metro Area (DC, MD, or VA)
Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited school.
Valid optometry license in both DC and MD would be ideal
Minimum of one (1) year of experience or successful completion of accredited optometry residency program.
Strong knowledge of childhood eye issues and optical systems
Familiar with medical terminology and patient care practices
Proficient conducting eye exams and assessing vital signs related to eye health.
Able to measure and record vital signs accurately
In-depth knowledge of ocular anatomy and common eye conditions
Strong patient care experience with young children and the ability to address the vision requirements of children, establish rapport, and provide compassionate care
Comfortable performing up to 5 to 6 exams per hour.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Google Suite
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
Spanish-speaking is a plus
