Position Summary
The Staff Psychiatrist provides a full range of outpatient psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and families at Family Service & Guidance Center (FSGC), including psychiatric consultation, prescribing and monitoring medication, and Psychotherapy (with pre-approval and within the limits established by the Chief Medical Officer). Collaboration and consultation with community agencies, other medical providers (especially the client's primary care physician) and schools is also expected.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide a full range of outpatient psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and families at FSGC.
Psychiatric consultation.
Prescribe and monitor medication for the treatment of mental disorders as indicated according to prevalent medical standards of practice and guidelines from The American Academy of Child & Adolescents Psychiatry.
Psychotherapy (with pre-approval and within the limits established by the Medical Director).
Consultation with other clinical staff of FSGC.
Consultation with community agencies, other medical providers (especially the client's primary care physician) and schools.
Supervision of other medical personnel or trainees, as requested by the Chief Medical Officer.
Prompt completion of all clinical documentation of patient contacts in the agency's EHR system within the department's guidelines for timeliness. The Chief Medical Officer in collaboration with the Clinical Oversight Committee will establish documentation criteria.
Attend staff or administrative meetings as required.
Help develop protocols for delivery of psychiatric services.
Provide community and interagency educational services as requested from time to time.
Obtain consent from the Chief Medical Officer and CEO for any professional activity or service provided to or for outside entities. Such activities will also require completion of FSGC's Agreement for Outside Employment, which must be signed by the CEO. Services for other entities cannot detract from or compete with clinical responsibilities/services at FSGC in any way.
Coordinate leave requests (i.e. CME, annual leave) with the Chief Medical Officer per department protocol to avoid inadequate physician coverage for the agency.
Timely completion of all administrative responsibilities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure:

Must successfully complete the KBI, DCF Central Registry and all other background investigations
