Key Responsibilities
Labor & Delivery and Acute Care Focus:
Provide 24/7 obstetric hospitalist coverage for labor and delivery unit
Manage acute antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum complications
Perform cesarean sections, operative vaginal deliveries, and obstetric procedures
Collaborative management of vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) trials
Respond to obstetric and gynecologic emergencies from the ED
Provide urgent gynecologic consultations for inpatient services and unassigned patients
Coverage includes L&D, PET (pre-eclampsia), acute gynecology, and OB/GYN ED emergencies
Teaching and Collaboration:
Direct supervision and teaching of OB/GYN residents and medical students
Collaborate with private attending physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
Schedule & Coverage:
Schedule: 44-48 hours per week with flexible 10-hour and 12-hour shift options
Preferred coverage: Night shifts, weekends, and day shift mix to support 24/7 hospitalist model
