Physicians hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. Clinical expectations include providing clinical care to level III and IV neonates at both the American Family Children's Hospital (AFCH) and Meriter Hospitals. Our providers participate in clinical teaching of fellows, residents and medical students, and support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department. Department: School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology & Newborn Nursery The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a vibrant academic department comprising more than 200 faculty members in 16 subspecialty divisions. It oversees an active program in studying the use of simulation for training NICU providers, including mannikin, virtual reality, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and other creative teaching methods. Research interests include nutrition and iron metabolism in neonates, corticosteroid metabolites in extremely low birth weight neonates, chronic lung disease, neonatal vision, surfactant delivery methods for respiratory distress syndrome, perinatal brain injury, monitoring kidney function with near-infrared spectroscopy, guiding newborn resuscitation using telemedicine, and using artificial intelligence to enhance neonatal care. You would join another full-time OB Hospitalist/Nocturnist.
