RECRUITMENT/POSITION INFORMATION
This recruitment is being held to establish an Open Eligible List to fill future vacancies in this class until the next recruitment. The eligible list established may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications through the County of Orange.
Incumbents will be periodically rotated through assignments and shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and correctional/court facilities.
A Deputy Sheriff Trainee will be required to attend and satisfactorily complete the 28-week P.O.S.T. Certified Orange County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy. Upon successful completion of the academy, the Deputy Sheriff Trainee will be promoted to the position of Deputy Sheriff I.

OCSD Deputy Sheriff Trainee Mentoring Program
The Mentoring Program is a voluntary, but highly recommended academy preparation program. This program is open to candidates who are currently in the background process with the Orange County Sheriff's Department and receive a referral from their background investigator. Any County of Orange employee who voluntarily participates shall do so off duty; no County employee may participate during their scheduled working hours. The Mentoring Program is designed to introduce candidates to academy protocol, memory work and physical training. TESTING PROCESS/SELECTION PROCEDURE
Sheriff Human Resources screens all applications and supplemental information to identify qualified candidates. After screening, qualified candidates will be referred to the next step in the recruitment process.
Written Exam (Pass/Fail): Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to the written exam via email. The written exam consists of job-related, multiple choice questions. Applicants who pass the written exam will be referred to the pre-investigative interview the same day.

Pre-Investigative Interview Questionnaire (Refer/Non-Refer): Candidates must print out and complete the Pre-Investigative Interview Questionnaire prior to exam date. You may be referred to a follow-up Pre-Investigative interview with a Background Investigator immediately following the written exam.
Physical Agility Test (Pass/Fail):Applicants must be dressed in physical training attire to participate.The physical agility test consists of three components.
* 30 Push-Ups: Complete 30 push-ups within 2 minutes.
* 30 Sit-Ups: Complete 30 sit-ups within 2 minutes.
* 1.5 Mile Run: Complete one and a half (1.5) miles on a flat surface within 14 minutes.
Applicants who pass the physical agility test will be referred to the structured oral interview, commencing the following weeks.
Structured Oral Interview (Refer/Non-Refer): Candidates will be interviewed and rated by a panel comprised of subject matter experts and civilian personnel. Each candidate's rating will be based on responses to a series of structured questions designed to elicit the candidate's qualifications for the position. Those who score high enough on the structured oral interview will be scheduled for a background interview with a Background Investigator.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Deputy Probation Correctional Officer I is an entry level class in the Deputy Probation Correctional Officer series formerly titled Deputy Juvenile Correctional Officer and works under direct supervision. There is no permanent status in this classification. A Deputy Probation Correctional Officer I who passes a one (1) year probationary period, and after satisfactory job performance, will be promoted to Deputy Probation Correctional Officer II. Incumbents who are not promoted will have failed probation in this class. Incumbents are peace officers under the California Penal Code section 830.5.
The Deputy Probation Correctional Officer I for Probation will be responsible for the following:
* Providing direct supervisory responsibility for youth in 24-hour, seven-day a week secure and non-secure facilities
* Making periodic checks of rooms or units and recording safety checks and population verifications
* Conducting activities designed to assist in the resocialization of youth
* Observing and recording behavioral actions or disturbances; providing situational counseling to juvenile offenders if necessary
* Effectively de-escalating violent behavior and participating in the physical restraint of violent and assaultive youth when necessary; utilizing safety equipment and techniques such as chemical agents and restraint equipment in compliance with legal mandates and policy guidelines

The current schedule is for the Quality Control Manager to start approximately March 2026 and mobilize to site April 2026.
The Quality Control Manager is responsible to implement and manage Quality Control Program per contract specifications and project QC Plan.
Requirements

Work closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager coordinating quality with production.
Manage and coordinate three phases of control for all features of work. Complete all associated report forms.
Conduct Preparatory meetings and Initial inspections on all definable features of work.

Educational and experience requirements include:
Experience with infrastructure projects including but not limited to medium voltage cabling, conductor splicing, insulators, grounding, lightning protection, transformers, switchgear, conductor lugs & terminations, underground duct banks, excavation, backfill, rebar, concrete, formwork, piping, welding, pumps, valves, painting & coating, instrumentation, pre-engineered buildings and commissioning.
Familiar with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health requirements.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent, QC Manager, Project Engineer, or Construction Manager.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, overtime exempt position. Days and hours of work will depend on production schedule.

Typical projects are 1 -3 years in duration in locations both domestic and international.

Salary Range:

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
The Environmental Health Division (EH) is comprised of various programs aimed toward protecting the health and safety of Orange County residents and visitors from harmful conditions in the environment. Staff enforce laws and regulations and emphasize education to assist businesses with providing healthy and safe communities. Services include retail and wholesale food protection, foodborne illness investigations, public pool inspections, childhood lead exposure prevention, water quality, ocean water protection, solid waste facility oversight, hazardous materials surveillance and mitigation oversight, underground and aboveground storage tank oversight, body art facility and practitioner oversight, medical waste management inspections and a used oil recycling education program.
The Hazardous Materials Surveillance Section (HMSS) manages the Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), medical waste, and body art regulatory inspection programs. The CUPA programs consist of the hazardous materials, hazardous waste, above-ground petroleum tanks, underground storage tanks (UST), and the California Accidental Release Prevention (CalARP) inspection programs. In addition to the regulatory oversight programs, the HMSS manages two CalRecycle grants, the Waste Tire Enforcement grant and the Used Oil Recycling grant.
The Land & Water Quality (LWQ) Sectionmanages the Site Mitigation program including Local Oversight programs (LOP) and Industrial Cleanup (IC), which provide regulatory oversight for cleanup of current/former industrial facilities and leaking underground storage tanks (USTs). The IC program serves all the cities and unincorporated areas of Orange County. The LOP serves a similar area; however, excludes the cities of Anaheim and Fullerton.
TheLWQSectionalso managesthe Solid Waste (SW)program that protects public health and safety, and the environment by ensuring that solid waste is collected, stored, processed and disposed properly. Solid waste facilities in Orange County are required to hold permits from the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA).
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Hazardous Materials Specialist III (HMS III) is the journey level class in the Hazardous Materials Specialist series and typically reports to a Supervising Hazardous Materials Specialist.
CUPA HMS III duties:
* Assist management with state audits, as well as CUPA and Participating Agencies' (PA) evaluations. Coordinate with senior staff in fire agencies to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Be on-call for the Health Hazmat Team in emergency incidents, disasters involving spills, releases of hazardous materials/waste, or threats to public health and the environment.
* Work on/participate in enforcement hearings, draft enforcement orders and work with the District Attorney's office on case referrals.
* Provide expert-level training to large groups at a state-wide conference and promote learning outside of the agency at the annual California CUPA conference.
* Serve as a lead representative for the CUPA programs state-wide technical advisory group (TAG).
* Lead Resource Conservation and Recovery ACT (RCRA) Large Quantity Generator and Hazardous Waste treatment inspections at larger manufacturing facilities and sites with multiple programs.
* Conduct UST installation inspections. The number of installations throughout the County is projected to increase due to the sunset date for single-walled tanks.
* Conduct CalARP inspections at Level 3 facilities which involve complex chemical processes, significant offsite consequences, or have a history of accidents.
LOP/IC HMS III duties:
* Apply extensive knowledge of State of California laws and regulations regarding leaking UST and non-UST contamination, investigation, and remediation. Prepare directive letters and Notices of Violation to enforce regulatory compliance.
* Review and evaluate human health risk assessments submitted by responsible parties and consultants; prepare comment letters as necessary; consult with Department of Toxic Substances Control and Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment regarding technical issues related to human health risk assessment and mitigation measures.
* Lead interagency meetings with the State or Regional Water Boards and Department of Toxic Substances Control in evaluating site conditions and potential impacts.
* Apply general principles of hydrogeology, chemical fate and transport, toxicology, risk analysis, public health and safety, and assessment and remediation to provide technical evaluations of reports submitted to the program.
* Prepare presentations for the public, regulated community, individual responsible parties and business owners. Provide responsive information to all stakeholders at appropriate levels.
* Review new or updated regulations and draft workflows/checklists to ensure staff compliance with changes.
* Assist with HMSI/HMSII staff development, including training and cross-training.
LEA HMS III duties:
* Prepare and review complex reports, reviews, and other documents with minimal or no supervisor assistance. Technical reports include but not limited to soil analysis and remediation data and plans.
* Conduct complex inspections independently and submits final reports to Supervisor for review. Complex inspections include sites that may have multiple waste streams, redevelopment plans, changes to the site, a history of violations or combination of these factors.
* Work in conjunction with the Senior Civil Engineer on projects for post closure land use plan and landfill gas mitigation systems. Provides confirmation that the base information is accurate to ensure comprehensive and encompassing review.
* Apply principles and knowledge of geology to read, interpret and analyze soil test reports.
* Serve as the LEA lead in interagency meetings with State Water Boards, CalRecycle, community members and other stakeholders. Provide timely and responsive information at appropriate levels.
* Assist County Counsel in the preparation of LEA legal documents, confirming accuracy of information and providing all relevant regulatory background information.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess at least three (3) years of experience in hazardous materials, solid waste management, site mitigation, or hazardous waste management. For Body Art programs, the ideal candidate will be in possession of the following: a valid certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
The ideal candidate will also possess knowledge and experience in the following competencies:

* Perform independently inspections of hazardous materials, business emergency plans, hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, aboveground storage tanks, Cal-ARP, drilling, soil, soil vapor, groundwater sampling, well installations, underground storage tank removals, active and closed landfills, transfer stations, composting facilities, and city maintenance yards.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Orange, Registrar of Voters conducts proactive outreach programs in Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish as mandated by the U.S. Voting Rights Act. THE DIVISION
The Sheriff-Coroner/Technology Division consists of approximately 150 personnel organized in six areas that specialize in specific operational and technical units, including Administration/Operations, Special Projects, Radio Communications, Applications, Infrastructure, and Security. The Division is also responsible for all Information Technology operations across the entire Sheriff's Department. This includes application development and support, help desk support, desktop support, mobile and MDC support, storage and server support, network and CCTV support, and network security operations.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a journey level class in the Communications Technician series that is located at Sheriff's Technical Services Unit (Radio Communications). Incumbents in this class install, maintain and repair complex electronic equipment, and work with minimal supervision.
GENERAL DUTIES
Troubleshooting and repair of electronics; perform preventative maintenance on radio communications equipment, program radios and design radio channel layout (template); install electronics in public safety vehicles, motorcycles, marine vessels, and buildings; service calls, customer service, ambulance certifications, configure, maintain, and provide media for video recording systems (in-car video, body warn cameras); self-development training; miscellaneous related tasks.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Plan Check:Conduct plan review and construction inspection for all retail food facilities and public swimming pools undergoing new construction or remodels throughout the county. These programs work directly with members of the public including owners, architects, contractors, and consultants.
Water Quality:The responsibilities for this position include activities related to well constructions and destructions, liquid waste hauler, ocean water protection and cross connection programs. Each of these water quality programs are related to monitoring/regulating/preventing potentially hazardous conditions in the environment that may impact public health. Examples of duties in this position include conducting inspections, investigating complaints, pursuing enforcement action, educating and assisting businesses and industries, water purveyors, and the general public as to the laws and regulations related to water quality.
THE OPPORTUNITY

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Community Development Compliance and Environmental Coordinator position is essential to ensuring compliance with the Federal National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), overseeing the proper use of Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Act (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds, as well as Project Based Vouchers (PBVs) and tracking affordable housing development project environmental review process. This specialized role is within OC Housing & Community Development at OCCR and reports directly to the Community Development Manager. This position is responsible for the overall compliance of the County's Federal CDBG, HOME and ESG grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). This includes coordination with the Community Development Manager on development and implementation of the HUD Annual Action Plan outlining how Federal funding will be allocated each year and responsible for year-end Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) reporting on how funding was spent.
The incumbent is responsible for overseeing input into the HUD Integrated Disbursement and Information System (IDIS) and setting up all projects, including use of the County's accounting system to create project setup. The role includes overseeing reports run out of IDIS and produces reports for management review on drawdown of funding and compliance milestones. Additionally, this position is responsible for reviewing and implementing NEPA compliance, including processing Environmental Assessments for affordable housing as needed with consultants for affordable housing developments and overseeing contract monitoring for compliance and timely drawdown of funding.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will have three (3) or more years of experience working with grants management/compliance, and at least two (2) years of work experience in CDBG, HOME, or ESG funding and knowledge ofthe NEPA and project timelines for Environmental Assessments.
A bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, public policy, finance, business administration, economics, political science, urban planning, or other related field may substitute for one (1) year of grants management/compliance experience.

TTC provides high quality STD and HIV services including medical care, case management, HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), Rapid Antiretroviral Therapy (Rapid ART), AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), information & education on STD and HIV care, Ryan White eligibility screening, HIV partner services and treatment adherence.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Medical Assistant provides integral support to clinic operations within the TTC Clinic. Under the direct supervision of a clinician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse, the Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties, including but not limited to:
* Performing venipuncture for blood specimen collection; administering subcutaneous or intramuscular injections and medications; and providing medications orally, sublingually, topically, vaginally, rectally, or as a single dose to patient for immediate self-administration.
* Conducting urine pregnancy tests and micro urinalysis dipstick testing.
* Scheduling and preparing patients for examination by recording vital signs, height, weight, and demographic information (name, age, sex, and date of birth). Completing basic patient history, including the history of present illness or complaint, and past medical, family, and social history.
* Explaining procedures and obtaining necessary consents and authorizations. Preparing, providing and maintaining medical records/charts for clinician, nurse practitioner, or nurse.
* Processing authorizations and referrals.

* Calling in medication refills to pharmacy when there is no change to dosage or type of medication.
* Ordering supplies, maintaining inventory and ensuring exam rooms, instruments, and/or supplies are clean and properly stocked.

This Internship provides a hands-on learning experience directly related to responsibilities that transfer to skills needed in a full-time position with us. The opportunity is available to develop, participate and learn key roles and functions within construction engineering operations. Primary Responsibilities
* Work with a vibrant and diverse team to build, estimate, and schedule mechanical, electrical and heavy industrial systems.
* Support both administrative and construction activities as assigned by the supervisor, reviewing proposals/specifications, drawings, perform material takeoffs, prepare cost estimates and attend pre-bid investigation meetings.
* Learn how to supervise subcontractors and communicate with vendors.
* Prepare work plans, assure quality control, manage and track costs and materials, schedule equipment, administer safety programs and maintain exceptional owner relations will fall within the job duties as well.

Qualifications
* Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering.
* Able to fully participate and temporarily relocate to job assignments at whichever job site, district office or department to which intern is assigned.
* Broad knowledge and ability to understand project scheduling and cost control, and to read and understand project owner specifications and engineering drawings.
* Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with estimating and construction project management software, autocad, and/or Primavera "P6" is preferred
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Strong written and verbal communications skills
* Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
* Strong work ethic - Highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right

Premium Pay In addition to the hourly salary, eligible applicants may receive premium pay for the items listed below:
* Bilingual pay:Qualified employees who meet the criteria found (page 16)shall receive an additional seventy $0.70 cents per hour for all hours paid

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
The Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Division consists of the following service areas Adult and Older Adult Behavioral Health, Children and Youth Services, Quality Management Services, Mental Health Services Act Office, Data Analytics and Evaluation, Crisis and Acute Care Services, Substance Use Services, BHS Navigation, and Forensics and Justice Involved. These service areas provide a culturally competent and client-centered system of behavioral health services for all eligible county residents in need of treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health care.
THE PROGRAM
In Children and Youth Services (CYS),there are a variety of direct client care opportunities to serve Orange County children, youth, transitional age youth, and their families impacted by mental illness and substance use disorders. CYS has three (3) major areas of service: 1) Regional outpatient clinics, (including intensive community-based recovery-oriented services) 2) programs serving youth in the juvenile justice system, and 3) programs serving foster youth. All programs strive to provide high quality, evidence-based services in a system that addresses the specific and unique needs of the individual and their support systems. Those served by CYS come from a variety of cultures and diverse backgrounds. The population served consists of children, youth, and transitional age youth ages 0 through 25.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This position is necessary to provide psychiatric services to children and youth in CYS outpatient clinics. The Psychiatrist will collaborate with a team of professionals both within the HCA, and with other County agencies with whom the programs partner with to ensure comprehensive care is provided. Additional job duties include, but are not limited to: conducting psychiatric evaluations on a scheduled or in a crisis situation, ordering lab tests, gathering medical, psychiatric, and social information from various sources, and creating treatment plans involving medication or other therapeutic approach.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES:
The ideal candidate will be certified in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have completed a two (2) year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.Bilingual skills are highly desirable but not required.
In addition, the ideal candidate must demonstrate substantial knowledge and practical experience directly related to the following competencies below:
Professional & Technical Expertise
* Perform prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of seriously mentally ill (SMI) patients
* Clear patients from acute mental crisis (e.g. schizophrenia, affective disorder, anxiety disorder, substance abuse disorder, childhood mental disorder, and depression)
* Provide care during psychiatric emergencies, including life-support measures and stabilization of mentally ill patients
* Respond and manage patients experiencing mood swings, anxiety, anger, substance abuse, and other major mental illnesses
