1994: Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approves OraSure flui d collection device.
Unfortunately Epitope ex perienced a major loss and stocks hit a new low in the fall of 1995.
By 1997, sales of the oral fluid diagnostic test had doubl ed, following an article in the Journal of the American Medical As sociation (JAMA) that declared OraSure's convenience and comparab ility (with regards to accuracy) to blood testing.
The year 1998 brought several new agreements with marketing companies . First there was an agreement with LabOne, Inc., a company that mark eted clinical, substance abuse, and insurance laboratory testing serv ices.
Early 1999 brought the formation of an alliance between Epitope and t wo of its partners: STC Technologies and LabOne.
Early 2001 brought a new agreement with one of the largest drug testi ng laboratories, Bendiner & Schlesinger, Inc. of New York, New Yo rk.
Both companies announced the availability of the test to physician's offic es, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities in 2003.
2004: Company receives FDA approval to market OraQuick test fo r both HIV-1 and HIV-2.
