MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ A high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience in a multi-boiler high pressure steam plant.
+ Holds a Second Class Power Engineers License issued by the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers, Inc. (NIULPE).
+ A working knowledge of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes for power boilers.
+ Some positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.

SUMMARY:
The primary duties of the Plant Operator consist of those jobs necessary, but not limited to, the operation and maintenance of pumping, and purification equipment, monitoring supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and plant instruments, routine work on buildings and grounds and daily sampling and laboratory work. This position involves various shift work (all shifts), and the employee is required to work rotating shifts. Plant Operator work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsible for safe and effective startup, shutdown, operation, maintenance, and monitoring and/or control of all water treatment plant equipment and processes, to include plant generators and electrical controls and various distribution system equipment and processes.
Ensures that daily work complies with Ohio EPA and Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO regulatory requirements for operations. Ensures that daily work complies with all established company safety policies. Captures all work performed in Maintenance Connection, an asset management program, per Company policies.
Manually and/or via SCADA system, Operates, maintains, reads, interprets, and records as directed all instruments at the plant and at various remote locations. Makes necessary
adjustments to treatment processes and/or pumping to maintain water quality standards.
Works with Water Treatment Plant personnel to monitor and/or control SCADA
system for effective operation of the Water System. Reacts accordingly to various pumping schemes, main breaks, and operational changes and advises supervisors on potential emergencies.
Performs assigned lab testing (wet chemistry), and sampling as directed in accordance with Ohio EPA certification requirements.
Performs assigned inspections of water treatment plant apparatus and equipment as directed. Assists the Division Mechanic with routine and emergency maintenance of facilities as required.

SUMMARY:

* Works with Water Treatment Plant personnel to monitor and/or control SCADA

We are currently hiring a Compactor Operator / Spare Vapour Recompression Evaporation Plant (VREP) Operator to join the team at our Evaporation Plant in Amherst, Nova Scotia.
Compass Minerals' Amherst Mechanical Evaporation Plant produces and packages a variety of salt products. Almost 50% of the salt manufactured at the plant is food-grade salt distributed for use in commercial food production and for table salt used in homes across Canada. In addition, the plant produces and packages salt for water conditioning, agriculture, fishery, deicing and even pool salt.
The Amherst Plant is located in a fully established community of 10,000, situated on the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick border on the northeast end of the Cumberland Basin, an arm of the Bay of Fundy. Amherst is two hours from Halifax and less than an hour's drive from Moncton, NB.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Bin Control / Compactor Operator
In this role, you will support safe, efficient, and continuous production by overseeing material handling, equipment operation, and quality checks within the Bin Control area.
* Load bulk trucks and hopper cars in accordance with production schedules and safety protocols.
* Operate compacting and crushing equipment, ensuring accurate conveying of salt products to designated production lines.
* Complete all required job worksheets each shift with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Collect and label product samples as required.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization within the Bin Control area.
* Conduct magnet checks during morning salt inventories on loading days.
* Perform #2 and #3 screen checks every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday.
* Fill YPS and SHMP tanks and accurately maintain associated logbooks.
* Perform monthly cleaning of the compaction system.
* Conduct bin inventory twice daily and report findings promptly.
VREP Operator
As a VREP Operator, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of the Vapour Recompression Evaporation Plant and supporting equipment.
* Operate the Vapour Recompression Evaporation Plant (VREP) to meet production and quality targets.
* Operate the natural gas boiler safely and effectively.
* Run and monitor auxiliary equipment, including pumps, conveyors, heat exchangers, and dryers.
* Perform cleaning and dust collection duties as required to maintain a safe and compliant workspace.
* Support maintenance activities and coordinate maintenance call‑ins when necessary.
* Conduct quality checks to ensure product and process standards are met.
* Work at heights and in confined spaces as required by operational needs.
* Perform tasks in high‑temperature environments and navigate steps or elevated platforms safely.
* Participate in a 12‑hour shift rotation as part of a continuous operations team
What should you bring to the role?
