    The Lift Team assists direct patient care providers using safe patient mobilization techniques such as performing equipment assisted lifts, transfers, turns and repositioning of patients in clinical environment. The Lift Team strives to promote a safe patient handling environment, for both patients and care providers. Lift Team member's coach healthcare clinical staff in use of lift techniques and transfer equipment as needed. This team also participate in Massive Transfusion Protocols (MTP), transporting vital blood products and labs in an expedient and dependable manner. Function/Duties of Position Rounds regularly, 3 times per 8 hour shift, to inpatient ICU floors. Collaborates with clinical staff to assess patient needs before each task (lift or reposition), including type of lift to be performed, condition of patient, and state of patient's physical disability. Performs patient transfers or repositioning using the appropriate lifting and transfer equipment. Identifies availability of necessary equipment and supplies for use in transfer or reposition. Responds to patient falls and urgent situations in an expedited manner (in less than 10 minutes). Collaborates with clinical staff to assess patient needs before lift or transfer. Identifies availability of necessary equipment and supplies for use in lift or transfer, using patient retrieval systems, such as HoverMatt or HoverJack, when necessary. Responds to requests for patient lifts or transfer from on-site and off-site (CHH and Dental School only) clinics (in less than 20 minutes). Collaborates, if possible, with clinical staff on scheduling prior to patient appointment. Responds to requests via Vocera, pagers or through the Transportation Dispatch. Participates in MTP's on the highest priority basis. Responds promptly to the Transportation Dispatchers directives. Maintains continual communication with dispatcher using Vocera and face-to-face communication with MTP clinical personnel. To ensure timeliness of this service, the following must be observed: use of elevators is not permissible and the first response must occur within 30 seconds of pager notification. Transports patients using wheelchair, stretcher, hospital bed, and morgue cart to and from various locations include, but not limited to: nursing units, diagnostics, pre-op, life flight pad and morgue. Transfer patients to and from stretcher, hospital bed, exam table and wheelchair using transportation-assist devices such as Hovermatts, Slipps, slider boards and backboards. Transports medical equipment, mail, labs, blood products and supplies to and from various locations within the OHSU environment. These locations are, but not limited to: nursing units, diagnostic areas, clinics, exam rooms, operating rooms, laboratories, morgue or offices. Operates elevators for patient and equipment movement. Relieves elevator attendants for breaks. Cleans and disinfects transportation medical equipment: stretchers, wheelchairs, morgue carts, HoverMatts, pillows and utility transport carts. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent; must be able to lift 50 pounds or push 300 pounds using appropriate equipment and body mechanics; must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions; AND Six months experience in a medical or healthcare environment or 90 days training with patient transportation. Excellent communication with public and staff. Strong customer service experience. Must have a positive and pleasant attitude. Soft skills such as strong work ethics, positive attitude. Ability to prioritize daily tasks to maximize efficiency and patient experience. Ability to multitask and function in stressful situations. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions in English. Demonstrated skills in collaboration, teamwork and problem-solving to achieve team goals. Ability to frequently lift and reposition dependent or bariatric patients. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people under stressful situations. Must be physically able to perform transportation, lift and transfer duties safely and unsupervised. COMPETENCIES: Complete in-house training for bio hazardous items and CPR within 90 days of hire. Must be completed within 90 days of hire: Body Mechanics SPM training MUST BE COMPLETED ANNUALLY: SPM training MTP mock drills - which verify the physical abilities and knowledge required Preferred Qualifications Associates Degree or higher, EMT certificate Healthcare or hospital experience. Report changes in the resident's eating habits to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse. • Keep residents' water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water (on each shift), and within easy reach of the resident. • Perform after meal care (i.e., remove trays, clean resident's hands, face, clothing, etc.). • Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty. • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors. • Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks. • Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. • Notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work. • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents. • Assist residents with daily functions (dental and mouth care, bath functions, combing of hair, dressing and undressing as necessary). • Keep residents dry (change gown, clothing and linens, when it becomes wet or soiled). • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests (i.e., lab work, x-ray, therapy, dental, etc.). • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed. • Assist in preparing the resident for a physical examination. • Check each resident routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes. • Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers (bedsores). • Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears. • Observe disoriented and comatose residents.     *Multiple positions are available, schedules will be determined at time of interview* This is the second level of a two-level series. It is distinguished from the lower level by the responsibility for performing a wide variety of assignments and the assignment of more complex duties, including the transfer and transportation of patients. This position is also responsible for performing all functions of the lower level, Transportation Aide 1 responsibilities. All transport work is completed using the Teletracking transportation software and the current technology used to obtain transportation jobs. Function/Duties of Position Transports patients using wheelchair, stretcher, hospital bed, and morgue cart to and from various locations include, but not limited to: nursing units, diagnostics, pre-op, life flight pad and morgue. Transfer patients to and from stretcher, hospital bed, exam table and wheelchair using transportation-assist devices such as Hovermatts, Slipps, slider boards and backboards. Transports medical equipment, mail, labs, blood products and supplies to and from various locations within the OHSU environment. These locations are, but not limited to: nursing units, diagnostic areas, clinics, exam rooms, operating rooms, laboratories, morgue or offices. Operates elevators for patient and equipment movement. Relieves elevator attendants for breaks. Cleans and disinfects transportation medical equipment: stretchers, wheelchairs, morgue carts, HoverMatts, pillows and utility transport carts.
