Doernbecher Children's Hospital (DCH) Operating Room, a unit of OHSU's Perioperative Services Division and OHSU's Women's and Children's Division, is located on the 8th floor of DCH. DCH is open 24/7 and maintains 8 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms that primarily address the surgical needs of both inpatient and outpatient pediatric and young adults with congenital conditions ages neonate to 25. Surgical procedure on patients 25 and above may also be performed. Service lines can include Cardiac/ Thoracic, General Surgery, Gynecology, Oral maxillofacial surgery, Dental, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Spine, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Transplant, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Robotic, Gastrointestinal, and Trauma. Surgical procedures on adults 18 years of age and above are also performed if the procedure requires specialized equipment found only at this location. Function/Duties of Position The department operates Monday through Friday for scheduled, urgent, and emergent procedures. The unit is staffed 24/7. 14C Medicine is a 31 bed acute care medicine unit. The 14C Medicine unit provides service to patient populations ages 18-100+ who have a variety of medical, acute care diagnoses and some cardiac conditions, such as atrial arrhythmias and NSTEMI cases. Patients require acute medical and nursing interventions such as intravenous fluids, tube feedings, pain management, respiratory care, including tracheostomy and stable ventilators, cystic fibrosis, antibiotics administration, diabetes management, heart failure care, endocarditis therapy, detox, behavioral and/or crisis management. Unit Vision: "We will provide exceptional care as a collaborative team that honors, respects and values our patients as well as each other" 14C is one of two units that admit psychiatric patients with medical issues which cannot be managed on the inpatient psychiatric unit (1NW). Acute Care (5A) and Family Medicine (5C) is a conceptually contiguous Family Medicine and General Medicine Acute Care unit with 14 beds on the Family Medicine unit and 23 beds on the Acute Care unit. The patient population is adults who have a variety of medical diagnoses such as Diabetes, End Stage Renal Disease, End Stage Liver Disease, Gastro-Intestinal Disorders, Adult Cystic Fibrosis, chronic and acute pain, infection, diagnostic testing, and psychiatric patients with a medical overlay. The Emergency Observation Unit consists of 18 beds (8 on 5B, and 10 on 6B). The Observation Unit is dedicated to efficient care of patients from the Emergency Department who do not meet inpatient admission status but are not immediately appropriate to send home. Patients are seen 24 hours a day by an advanced practice provider in conjunction with the Emergency Medicine Attending Physician. The Observation nurses work as part of an interdisciplinary care team to provide individualized family-centered care for adult patients determined to need ongoing monitoring and care under the observation patient classification (24-48 hours). Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS must not expire during orientation Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation Additional Details Length of Orientation - Experienced Nurse External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week. Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area.
