This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Grounds Maintenance Worker 2 position for the Hatfield Marine Science Center at Oregon State University (OSU). This position will be located in Newport, Oregon.
The Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) is Oregon State University's campus for research, education, and outreach in marine and coastal sciences. HMSC is located fifty-five miles west of the OSU main campus in Newport, OR. Through its partnerships, HMSC improves scientific understanding of marine systems, coastal processes, and resources, and applies this knowledge to social, economic, and environmental issues. The Grounds Maintenance position is a valued member of the HMSC Facilities team, which supports the expanding campus endeavors and strives to maintain the highest service standards with a focus on quality, efficiency, safety, and customer service.
The Grounds Maintenance position is responsible for the professional upkeep and enhancement of HMSC's outdoor environments, ensuring a positive and lasting impression on students, visitors, volunteers, researchers, and staff. Under the supervision of the HMSC Maintenance Supervisor and coordination with fellow grounds crew, this role is dedicated to achieving and maintaining a natural aesthetic across the 63.5-acre HMSC campus and grounds, with a primary focus on the eradication of invasive plant species and the promotion of native vegetation. Additionally, the position incorporates principles of landscape design, emphasizing the selection and cultivation of indigenous trees and plant species appropriate to the Oregon Coast region.
This is an on-call position and considered essential personnel, which may require attendance during emergency university closures.

Key Responsibilities
20% - Landscaping: Design and develop new garden areas around campus buildings to enhance aesthetics and provide wildlife habitat. Maintain existing landscapes to ensure ongoing quality and appeal.
20% - Grounds Maintenance: Responsible for cleaning up trash and debris, performing weeding, thinning trees and shrubs, and hauling debris to off-site recycling or disposal locations using a university-owned pickup (requires a current, valid driver's license).
20% - Lawn Care and Maintenance: Perform tasks such as mowing, seeding, weeding, raking, string trimming, and debris blowing to uphold the standard of campus lawns.
15% - Native Flora Promotion and Invasive Species Control: Encourage the planting of native flora and eradicate invasive species through manual methods, with an emphasis on Himalayan blackberries, English ivy, and Scotch broom.
10% - Additional Facilities Team Responsibilities: Assist with daily rounds, seawater system maintenance (including confined space tank cleaning and periodic line changes every six weeks), support plumbing and irrigation repairs, and assist electricians and HVAC specialists as needed to ensure that all vital HMSC facility functions remain operational
5% - Equipment Maintenance: Maintain all groundskeeping equipment and sharpen tools used in grounds maintenance work.
5% - Irrigation System Management: Maintain existing irrigation systems and install new systems in a sustainable manner, particularly in relation to new plantings.
2.5% - Community Relations and Project Assistance: Participate in pertinent campus committees, such as the HMSC Green Team when applicable. Represent OSU/HMSC with external groups on landscaping, forest expansion, habitat restoration, and invasive species removal as needed.
2.5% -Other Duties as assigned.
What We Require
Pesticide applicator's license may be required based on position duties; AND Two years experience as a grounds keeper which included plant care; OR An Associate's degree in Landscape Technology or Horticulture; OR Completion of a Landscape Certification program or license in a horticultural specialty.

Key Responsibilities
Vessel Operations and Field Support - 70%
* Operates small research vessels (motorized and non-motorized) in marine and freshwater environments.
* Trailers, launches, and recovers vessels using full-size trucks and other towing equipment.
* Assists with on-deck operations including gear deployment, line handling, and routine tasks required to support research missions.
* Makes basic safety and operational assessments based on environmental conditions and equipment readiness

The Department of Microbiology invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, fixed-term Faculty Research Assistant: Microbiology (Aquatic Animal Health) position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.
The Faculty Research Assistant will support the Principal Investigator's research program in the Department of Microbiology, College of Science at Oregon State University. This position is essential to maintaining ongoing research investigating parasitic, bacterial, and viral diseases affecting salmonids and zebrafish-work critical to understanding aquatic animal health in the Pacific Northwest and supporting collaborative partnerships with tribal nations and natural resource agencies. The FRA will ensure the daily operations of zebrafish vivarium and salmonid research populations, conduct molecular diagnostics and pathogen characterization, participate in field sample collection, and contribute to scientific communication through manuscripts and presentations. This role is vital to the research program's capacity to train students, maintain IACUC compliance, respond to emergency situations affecting animal welfare, and advance the laboratory's mission of conducting community-engaged research on infectious diseases impacting economically and culturally significant fish populations.
The Department of Microbiology, staffed by about 20 faculty and five instructors, trains about one thousand undergraduate majors and 25 graduate students. Key Responsibilities
Animal Care & Husbandry (50%)
Maintain zebrafish vivarium operations including daily health monitoring, water quality management, breeding colony maintenance, and system troubleshooting. Maintain salmonid populations for transmission experiments and research studies. Monitor fish health and welfare across species in compliance with OSU IACUC and BioSafety requirements. Oversee care across multiple facilities including zebrafish vivarium, Fish Disease Hall, Aquatic Animal Health Laboratory, and associated facilities. Coordinate with Facilities staff regarding system maintenance, repairs, and infrastructure needs. Respond to emergency situations including equipment failures, water system issues, power outages, and flooding events. Order and manage laboratory supplies, feed, and materials.
Research & Laboratory Operations (30%)
Perform necropsies on fish and isolate pathogens, including those that may infect humans. Characterize parasitic, bacterial, and viral pathogens using phenotypic and molecular methods ( PCR , qPCR, histology, microscopy, cell culture). Participate in field sample collection at off-site locations including hatcheries, rivers, tribal facilities, and public collection sites. Process and archive biological samples according to laboratory protocols. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including thermocyclers, microscopes, and aquatic system components. Analyze molecular and epidemiological data using appropriate software and bioinformatics tools. Assist with experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis. Maintain accurate records and contribute to research documentation. Assist with IACUC protocol maintenance, amendments, and compliance documentation.
Supervision & Training (10%)
Provide guidance and training to undergraduate and graduate students working with fish. Train personnel on proper equipment use and maintenance. Ensure lab safety compliance and proper technique among trainees. Coordinate student schedules for animal care coverage.
Scientific Communication & Scholarship (10%)
Contribute to manuscript development including data visualization, methods documentation, and literature review. Assist with manuscript preparation, editing, and revision processes. Support preparation of grant applications, progress reports, and research presentations. Contribute to research presentations and posters for scientific conferences and community meetings. Maintain organized datasets and documentation to facilitate publication. Travel to conferences and workshops for continued professional development and dissemination of research findings.
What You Will Need

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work is performed in multiple laboratory and aquatic facility environments including wet labs, zebrafish vivarium, Fish Disease Hall, and Aquatic Animal Health Laboratory. The position involves regular exposure to water, fish pathogens (including those that may infect humans), biological samples, and laboratory chemicals. Work requires BSL -2 compliance and adherence to biosafety protocols.
Physical requirements include lifting supplies and equipment (up to 50 lbs), standing for extended periods during animal care and laboratory procedures, repetitive motions associated with fish husbandry and laboratory work, and ability to respond quickly to emergency situations. The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine provides professional and graduate programs for veterinary students leading to DVM , MS and PhD degrees, operates both a Large and a Small Animal Teaching Hospital ( VTH ), and a State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The College operates within a total budget (from all sources) of approximately $32 million annually, which supports educational programs, veterinary medical and diagnostic public services, and research programs with broad impacts related to animal and human health. The Department of Clinical Sciences oversees clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching, and scholarly activity of clinical faculty and residents. The VTH provides primary and referral health care for animals throughout the Pacific Northwest. Its small animal clinic was completed in 2005 and expanded in 2019. It has modern examination and treatment space, full-service diagnostic imaging and surgery facilities and a catheter laboratory for pacemaker implantation and other interventional procedures.
The purpose of this position is to provide clinical service, foster critical thinking, generate original medical information and advance professional veterinary students' and house officers' knowledge and skills through research, mentorship and instruction in the Department of Clinical Sciences and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The balance between these duties will differ between candidates in our clinical and tenure tracks. Duties and expectations will vary with the FTE of the appointment.

The incumbent provides Oncology services to veterinary patients admitted during regular hours and after hours. The emphasis is on small companion animals, but very occasionally involves large animals or exotic species. Participation in the Oncology clinical service, including primary management of select cases, practical instruction of oncology and related topics to senior veterinary students and equivalents, and clinical mentorship of interns, residents, and clinical fellows. The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President is seeking a Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (SVPAA) works with the academic deans, Faculty Senate, and other administrators to advance the university's goals to attract, promote, and retain a distinguished and diverse academic faculty; support academic faculty in curriculum development, research, and teaching; offer high quality academic programs across locations and modalities; develop and lead OSU's efforts to ensure that every student graduates; design well-supported and affordable pathways to an Oregon State University (OSU) degree; create opportunities for student research and experiential learning; deliver instruction using leading edge pedagogies and technologies; and support academic operations broadly. These activities are critical underpinnings the highest quality research and teaching programs and student success, and they complement efforts in the colleges, at OSU-Cascades, Hatfield and other locations, and by the divisions of Student Affairs, Educational Ventures, and Research and Innovation.
The SVPAA reports to and serves at the pleasure of the Provost and Executive Vice President; represents the Provost as required, is a member of the Provost's Council and Provost's Senior Leadership Team; attends meetings of the University Cabinet, as required; and serves as the Provost's designee to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee.
The SVPAA directs the Division of Academic Affairs and provides senior leadership for a growing administrative portfolio that includes oversight of Office of Academic Faculty Excellence, academic programs, the Office of the Registrar, the Honors College, the OSU Library and OSU Press, the Office of Graduate Education, the Office of Undergraduate Education, university policies and standards, accreditation, and university-level support for the arts and humanities.
In the domain of faculty affairs, the SVPAA oversees promotion and tenure processes, academic leadership professional development programming, and faculty professional development programming, the Center for Teaching and Learning, the latter two within the Office of Academic Faculty Excellence. The SVPAA's work to vision and support professional development programming for faculty and leaders is done in partnership with the chief human resources officer and vice president for mission and impact (chief diversity officer).
In the domain of academic programs, the SVPAA oversees curriculum management (undergraduate and graduate), the academic unit review process, academic program assessment, and undergraduate academic support units and initiatives (including core education, OSU Global Opportunities (OSU GO), undergraduate research, ROTC programs, the Writing Intensive Curriculum program, the Difference, Power, and Oppression program, and the Marine and Coastal Opportunities program (MACO)). Oversight of INTO OSU academic programs is also part of the SVPAA portfolio.
The SVPAA oversees university-level visioning, support, and investment in the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx) and associated programs supporting humanities (the Center for Humanities and the Center for Material Cultures and Research), collaborating closely with the dean of the College of Liberal Arts. The associate vice provost for arts and humanities and executive director of PRAx reports jointly to the SVPAA and the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and is charged with building the university's reputation as a leader in arts exhibitions, residencies and fellowships for artists and humanities scholars (both internal and external), public humanities efforts, education, and arts and humanities integration with the University as a whole.
The SVPAA also contributes to OSU's engagement with the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) on student success efforts-especially related to student transfer-and to OSU's partnership in the University Innovation Alliance.
The SVPAA must build and maintain strong partnerships with the leadership of the colleges and the divisions of Research and Innovation, Educational Ventures, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Extension and Engagement, University Human Resources, the Office of Institutional Diversity, the OSU Foundation, and the Faculty Senate, as well as academic advisors and the faculty at large, to foster a collaborative and holistic university approach to faculty and academic excellence and student success. The role includes working with the faculty and academic unit leaders to support a substantive and integrated undergraduate core curriculum to complement the university's distinctive disciplinary offerings.
While fundraising is not a primary expectation, occasionally this position will assist the University and the Oregon State University Foundation (OSUF) in donor stewardship and growing philanthropy. Attendance at some OSUF or other fundraising/donor events is expected.

Strategic leadership.
The SVPAA acts on behalf of the Provost and Executive Vice President when necessary and chairs the steering committee for development of the University's strategic plan, and once developed, chairs or serves as a member of the implementation steering committee for the plan.

Job Summary
The PAC Recreational SCUBA Program within the Physical Activities Course ( PAC ) Program, a part of the School of Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences, in the College of Health at Oregon State University is seeking SCUBA Certification Evaluators. This is a part-time, (varied FTE ), hourly, 12-month, professional faculty position.
Applications submitted to this recruitment pool are reviewed on an as needed basis. Qualified candidates will be contacted when positions become available throughout the academic year. Some of these appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis at the discretion of the program Director. Scheduling for each term is determined in February for Spring term, November for Winter term, and beginning in May for Fall term.
This position supports the SCUBA courses offered through the PAC Recreational SCUBA Programs within the Physical Activity Course ( PAC ) program at Oregon State University by guiding and evaluating students throughout the process of achieving certification through the Professional Association of Diving Instructors ( PADI ). Courses currently offered include Open Water ( PAC 242), Advanced Open Water ( PAC 243), Rescue Diver ( PAC 244), specialties ( PAC 245), and Divemaster I & II ( PAC 299).
Incumbent will provide additional supervision and/or run pool and open water sessions independently in SCUBA classes and make sure PADI ratio standards are met so students are safe in the learning environment.
The primary mission of the PAC Program is to provide all Oregon State University students with the knowledge and experience to make sound decisions regarding present and future physically active lifestyles. The intent of the PAC Program is to provide quality instruction in safe, adequately equipped facilities and to create a positive, enjoyable learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
80% - Evaluation
- Work directly with students (small group and individually, including minors) in pool sessions and open water dives as they practice techniques, skills, and equipment usage which are necessary for certification.
- Assist or independently run dive groups of 20+ students with assistance from additional staff and/or volunteers in pool sessions and open water dives.
- Modify level and amount of assistance provided to students based on each student's individual skill and comfort level.
- Evaluate each student's skills to determine when it is appropriate to build on techniques and continue with the next step in the established curriculum. Work with students in a confined water and open water environment.
- Enforce all safety rules at the pool and open water sites.
- Guide students with proper dive planning for open water dives.
- Drive/transport students and/or equipment to open water sites.
20% - Equipment
- Provide general equipment care. Service equipment if incumbent possesses the necessary factory equipment certification.
- Ensure equipment and other materials are set up prior to course meetings.
- Wash, sanitize, and store equipment after use.
- Help with inventory check in and out.
- Depending on course level, demonstrate equipment function, use, and assist students with using equipment.
What You Will Need
Current, valid PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification, professional liability insurance, and current good standing with PADI .
Current, valid Adult CPR and AED Essentials and First Aid and oxygen provider (the certifications must be completed prior to the start of classes; more advanced training will be accepted).
Minimum of 150 dives. 20 dives must be in a professional supervisory position and 4 of the 20 dives must be with the OSU SCUBA program, may be earned before start date as an OSU volunteer.
Ability to manage small groups (6 students alone) and with assist with large groups of students (up to 10).
Ability to be flexible with students' needs.
Ability to cooperate with other SCUBA instructional team members and volunteer staff, possibly in high stress environments.
Experience with diving in night conditions (at least 10) and Deep dives (at least 10).
Able to safely operate full size trucks loaded with SCUBA equipment or operate 12 passenger vans with students.
Current, valid DAN accident insurance.
Ability to provide own SCUBA equipment necessary for OSU's dive environment.

The Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) will support the development of hands-on, 3D-printed instructional models for use in ENGR 110/115, the ENGR+ Fall Showcase, and other educational activities. These models will help introduce nuclear engineering and radiation health physics concepts to students with limited prior exposure to the field and support hands-on learning.
The primary goal of this position is to enhance experiential learning by designing, fabricating, and refining physical teaching models that support classroom instruction, public engagement, and outreach activities, including the ENGR+ Fall Showcase and other educational events. The ULAs will work closely with Dr. Ranjbar to translate technical concepts into accessible, visually engaging, and educationally effective 3D models.

Veterinary Assistants may be assigned to any of the areas below with varying percentages depending on the needs of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
45% - HOSPITAL ASSISTANCE :
Receives animal patients, processes intake paperwork, records patient information, inputs hospital charges in billing system, and verifies condition of stalls. Communicates in a respectful and professional manner with clients about patient status, referring veterinarians and outside pharmacies as needed. Provides patient care, treatments; including oral medications, feeding in accordance with verbal and written instructions, monitoring liquid intake levels, assists in lunging, jogging and trotting patients for lameness exams; assists in restraint and head propping for dental procedures; with monitoring patient conditions including performing inpatient physical exams. Exercises animal patients as directed; including disconnecting a patient from IV fluid line and flushing the catheter. Prepares patients for discharge and cleans equipment between patients.
25% MEDICAL PROCEDURE ASSISTANCE :
Sets up and prepares for medical procedures, including treatment room preparation. Assists veterinarian and veterinarian technician in various procedures and treatments including but not limited to non-diagnostic physical exams on patients, running in-house blood work and fluid samples, submitting samples though diagnostic labs, submitting anesthesia/radiology requests, restraining patients for treatments and blood draws, preparing rooms for surgical procedures and setting up anesthesia equipment, clipping and prepping patients for surgery, monitoring animal recovery, and assisting with bandage changes. Handles horses during lameness exams; walks, jogs, and lunges the horses.
20% - MAINTENANCE , CLEANING AND INVENTORY :
Maintains and cleans between patients; endoscopy units, ultrasounds, operating rooms, and treatment rooms. Cleans and tidies treatment carts, returns unused pharmacy items. Maintains supply inventories, records supplies used, and restocks medical supplies at various workstations.
10% - STUDENT ASSISTANCE :
Assists with demonstrating animal restraint and handling and instructing students in the proper use of equipment and supplies under direct supervision. Facilitate a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment and support opportunities for the growth and development of students.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Incumbents will be working alone or in small groups in remote areas of eastern Oregon, often without cell reception. The ability to drive several hours to and from study areas each day and hike 3-10 miles per day over rugged, rocky terrain while carrying a pack weighing up to 25 pounds is required. Camping stints of up to 3 nights at a time may be required to complete data collection in remote areas.
Fieldwork is dictated by weather and study species, so work schedule will be variable, including early mornings or nights under adverse field conditions (wind, rain, snow, mud). Night work will be required when assisting with sage-grouse capture. Temperatures in the high desert can range from below freezing at the beginning of the season to 100+ degrees F by summer.

* Primary duties include conducting reviews of university activities for deemed exports, end-use and end-user restrictions, embargoes and sanctions, restricted party screenings, and anti-boycott restrictions in order to determine recommendations for the best course of action to minimize risk to the University, including requests for specific authorization or determinations from the U.S. Government, according to the regulatory requirements and best practices, included within but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Foreign Assets Controls Regulations (FACR), and those administered by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Department of Energy.

CAs are required to live in the Orchard Court Complex, the GEM apartments, 1045 SW Madison, or Dixon Lodge. CAs are required to maintain eligibility criteria to reside in student housing. Job duties include being on-call nights and weekends in addition to attending staff and one-on-one meetings as scheduled by the Apartment Living Manager.

* The Dixon Lodge Community Assistant position is a one-year student leadership opportunity, currently for the 2026-2027 academic year. The employment period begins in the summer of 2026 on July 1, 2026, and extends through the full academic year to June 30, 2027.

* CAs will be assigned to duty shifts while classes are not in session and on holidays when OSU is closed (Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break, and University Closures). Duty entails being within a ten-minute response time to the community.

* University Housing & Dining Services is the primary employer/leadership opportunity for all CAs. The University allows domestic student employees to work on campus for 24 hours per week and international student employees to work on campus for 20 hours per week. Working Conditions

The Faculty and Staff Fitness ( FSF ) program, a part of the School of Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences, in the College of Health at Oregon State University, invites applications for one or more Strength Training and/or Rhythmic Format Fitness Instructor positions to teach FSF courses during the 2025-2026 academic year. These are professional faculty positions. The Faculty Staff Fitness ( FSF ) program is offered through the College of Health at Oregon State University. The purpose of the program is to enhance the individual health, fitness, and well-being of OSU employees. The FSF program scheduled its first series of activity classes in the spring of 1984, initially offering 10 classes and enrolling 100 participants. The FSF program currently offers 30-40 classes and serves over 800 faculty, staff, graduate assistants, spouses/partners, and retirees of the university each term. Core activities include courses in aerobics, aqua fitness, conditioning, mind/body, and weight training. This is a hourly position. Classes are offered 2 to 3 days a week. Key Responsibilities
100% Instruction:Teach Strength Training and/or Rhythmic Formats courses in the OSU Faculty Staff Fitness program. Instruction includes design, delivery, and assessing individual participants' ability to perform movement correctly
What You Will Need
+ Bachelor's degree and one of the following:
+ One (1) year of teaching experience in strength training and/or rhythmic formats, for a minimum of 2 1-hour classes per week (approximately 104 hours annually), or an equivalent amount of instruction experience; OR
+ Nationally recognized professional certification in strength training and/or rhythmic formats and 6 months of teaching experience for a minimum of 2 1-hour classes per week (approximately 52 hours annually), or an equivalent amount of instruction experience; OR
+ Associate's degree in Exercise Sports Science or relevant field and three (3) years teaching experience in field of strength training and/or rhythmic formats.; OR
+ High School Diploma or equivalent and five (5) years teaching experience AND Certification in field of strength training, group fitness and/or rhythmic formats.
+ CPR / AED and First Aid certifications by the start of classes.
+ Demonstrated ability to design, teach and assess courses that support inclusive learning principles and promote equitable teaching practices, to the benefit of all learners.
What We Would Like You to Have
+ Masters in Kinesiology or relevant discipline.
+ NCCA certification in field of group exercise, strength training, personal training, or rhythmic formats. Preferred certifying organizations: ACSM , NSCA , ACE , NASM .
+ Enrolled in/completed Kinesiology/Public Health program and completed a practicum/internship within the Faculty Staff Fitness organization in field applicable to position.
+ 5+ years teaching experience.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This position is hourly. This position requires the ability to demonstrate the physical fitness activity to participants for the duration of the class. This position may require lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, twisting, and physical demands associated with fitness activity classes. Classes are offered in short blocks of time throughout the day and week, including early mornings, lunch times, and evenings. For example an Instructor may teach the same class for one hour on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Job Summary
The Department of Botany & Plant Pathology invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure-track full/part-time eCampus Lab Instructor positions to teach on a term-by-term basis for the 2025-2026 academic year. Some of these appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis at the discretion of the Department Head.

The primary mission of the OSU Department of Botany and Plant Pathology is undergraduate and graduate education, research, and extension.
