    Hiring Bonus available upon hire! The function of the Radiologic Technologist position within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging is to perform all phases of technical diagnostic imaging. Radiologic Technologists operate X-Ray equipment used to capture and develop images for the purpose of medical diagnosis. The Radiologic technologist promotes OHSU's mission statement by delivering high quality, cost effective, family-oriented service. This position helps to create a collaborative environment by integrating education, research and clinical leadership. Radiologic Technologists work with infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Function/Duties of Position Imaging: Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment. Technologists will be trained in all general radiology exams/areas so that they are able to rotate through the department based on workflow needs. Utilize the VIP transportation system to arrange for patient delivery. Positions patient for diagnostic radiology exams according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements with a high regard for the safety and care of the patient. Operates radiology equipment, determines and sets exposure factors, sets technique utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates. Uses computer image processing, as needed to select, process, optimize and archive images to PACS. Completely tracks exams in the Radiology Information system. Develops and presents images and related patient information to radiologist for diagnosis. Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures. Assists in the training of Radiologic Technology Students, and adheres to dept. policy on supervision of student technologists. Documentation: Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers. Responsible to correctly identify patients by checking their identity per department procedure. Reviews patient chart and orders to insure correct examination. Labels images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation. Follows dept policy on the use of anatomical markers. Logs activities, gathers charging information and charges exams as required. Follows department and hospital procedures and policies. Performs quality control and quality assurance, records results and reports variance from normal equipment function. Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Must be a graduate of an accredited diagnostic radiography program that meets current qualifications to take and pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board examinations in Radiography upon hire. Student candidates must obtain the RT (R) (ARRT) certification within 6 months of their hire date. Candidates must have a current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) temporary license for student hires and permanent license for registered hires. Must have a valid OHSU approved Basic Life Support CPR card. Additional Details Full-time position for a total of 80 hours per pay period; overtime as required. Mandatory On Call duty. This position works in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, multiple demands and continuous interaction with patients and other medical professionals. It requires being exposed to radiation, chemical solutions, and human tissue/fluids. Locations for this position include General X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, Orthopedics Clinic, Pain Clinic, and the Surgery Operating Rooms at Center For Health and Healing at the South Waterfront area. Radiology Services at Harborview Medical Center offers a full complement of radiology tests and imaging procedures, including nuclear medicine and interventional radiology (angiography). PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Performs diagnostic radiographic exams as assigned by Lead or Supervisor. Transferring and positioning patients as well as providing immobilization. Provide devices as required and select proper technical factors and operate radiographic equipment. - Under general supervision performs complex radiographic procedures such as, but not limited to the following: myelograms, discograms, complex orthopedic procedures in the OR, extensive radiography, and complex polytraumatized patients from the ED and ICU. - Is able to operate the following equipment/systems: Computed and Digital Radiography equipment, PACS, the Hospital Information System, and the Radiology Information System. Able to print and retrieve images. Can implement downtime procedures as needed. - Assists in the orientation of new staff, technologists, researchers, and students to the Radiology department. - Help maintain a clean and well-stocked working environment. - May be assigned Lead responsibilities in their absence or when requested. - Maintains adequate computer and/or written records using the Radiology Information System. - May be required to work on-call. - Assures appropriate utilization of Radiation Protection prescribed by safety standards is utilized. Radiology Services at Harborview Medical Center offers a full complement of radiology tests and imaging procedures, including nuclear medicine and interventional radiology (angiography). PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This role will report to the Imaging Director. 24 hour responsibility for coordinating operations, working with lead technologists, on call required. Coordinate patient flow through the Department. Ensure efficient and high quality patient service at the lowest cost. Supervise Lead Technologists and Technologists, in the following modalities: Radiography, Computed Tomography, Interventional Radiography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound. Communicate vision and provide leadership and direction to staff members. Prepare and complete payroll, coordinate interviewing/hiring process for staff, approve leave and evaluate staff performance and perform competency assessments. Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to technical aspects of the Department. Be knowledgeable in the detailed operation of the IDXRad Radiology Information System. Assure appropriate, effective utilization of the system. Maintain quality assurance/quality control/radiation safety program standards. Review patient requisitions to assure that they contain complete patient information; contact appropriate patient care areas as necessary to clarify incomplete requisitions. Maintain adequate department supplies. Develop and present in-services to staff. Provide data to Radiology management and Medical Director concerning quality assurance, staffing, patient flow patterns, department performance, productivity and budget. Fiscally responsible and maintain budgetary and productivity targets. As part of the management team, participate in planning, research, and educational activities. Perform technologist duties as necessary and may be assigned administrative operational oversight in the absence of Imaging Manager. REQUIREMENTS Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program in an AMA approved school; registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) AND registered or registry-eligible in an equivalent specialty area One year of experience performing the work of an Imaging Technologist Lead in the relevant specialty service area(s). Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
