The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services (BBVS), Erie District Office is looking for a dedicated Orientation and MobilitySpecialist to assist Pennsylvanians with disabilities gain the skills necessary to live and work independently in their communities. This position provides a full range of rehabilitation services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Orientation and MobilitySpecialist, you will promote optimal personal and social adjustment to blindness, leading to self-sufficiency and independent living. Through instruction and consultation, you will be contributing to the customer's rehabilitation process. Your focus will be on assessing customers referred to Orientation and Mobility by collecting and reviewing reports and information, conferring with staff, interviewing customers, observing current level of functioning to develop an individualized plan of instruction, and making referrals for appropriate services. You will have the opportunity to develop an individualized service plan that contains a schedule of instruction based on objectives and recommendations in coordination with the Vocational Rehabilitation, Independent Living, and Social Services plan.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Erie. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Successful completion of the commonwealth's Orientation and Mobility Intern program; or
A bachelor's or master's degree or certificate from an approved college or university program in orientation and mobility that includes a practicum ;or
Possession of an active Certified Orientation and MobilitySpecialist certificate issued by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP).
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credit.
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Provides direct or consultative instructional strategies, interventions, orientation and mobility and diagnostic services on a scheduled basis to children identified with visual impairments.
Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings to determine if a child is eligible for services in accordance with Nebraska Rule 51 or Rule 52 criteria.
Designs, implements, and monitors individualized education programs (IEPs) and itinerant service models.
Conducts functional vision assessments, learning media assessments, orientation & mobility assessments, and collaborates with IEP teams to interpret results and develop instructional strategies and services.
Demonstrates competence in instruction of Braille and compensatory/functional academics, assistive technology, independent living skills, orientation & mobility, social interaction, recreation and leisure, career education, sensory efficiency skills, and self-determination.
Provides supervision and creates a safe environment during the provision of Orientation and Mobility services out in community settings.
Teaches, demonstrates and instructs the child's family members and staff members in activities to enhance goals and the child's program.
Collaborates with teachers regarding the child's needs in the school and acts as a resource to the teacher in the area of visual impairments.
Ensures timely and accurate completion of written progress notes and service documentation logs for all students, as well as written documentation required by ESU 3 and contracted school districts.
Provides continuous service for children ages Birth-3 at a time convenient to the family, requiring service provision over a twelve month period and/or occasional services in the evenings as requested by the family.
Completes state reporting for Results Matter when assigned as the case manager for children Birth-3.

Our partner school provides alternatives to traditional schooling that utilize 21st century technology. The school provides students with computer technology, allowing them to progress at their own pace. The Intervention Specialist is responsible for overseeing assigned e-learning classes; students may be working at home or working in school computer labs. The Intervention Specialist is responsible for maintaining compliance of student special needs records including IEPs and ETRs; monitoring and reporting student progress for caseload students as well as in classes taught; and providing instructional resources to students per IEP specifications. This position will assist the TIS administration in providing effective and efficient educational services to any partner school affiliates. The use of technology to develop these relationships is essential. This position works mainly from a home office but reports to the main office in Marion, Ohio, or other regional locations at dates and times as assigned by the administration.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Maintain compliance of student special needs records including IEPs and ETRs.
Use technology to identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the
students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
Monitor and report student progress on all IEP goals and objectives for student caseload and
