    This position is responsible for building, maintaining, and reporting on an integrated portfolio-level resource and cost loaded schedule/s for the Orion Concrete Construction segment submitting cost recourses loading schedules in our InEight software. The incumbent will work closely with executive management in determining the most optimum method to support this endeavor, specifically for the Orion Concrete Construction project portfolio. The role includes providing valuable insight and analysis on status of resources and equipment and how they are allocated on projects within the division. In addition, the incumbent will work closely with the Project Management Teams supporting the building, maintaining, and reporting of project schedules for the Orion Concrete segment. The role requires supporting the Project Management Teams in establishing and adhering to project execution "best practice." The incumbent will work closely with executive management, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Estimating, Finance and other project team members to ensure successful project execution, cost control, on time delivery, and risk mitigation. The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES * Reports directly to Project Controls Manager, providing technical project control support of all major and prospective projects. * Assists Project Managers to develop schedules for the proper sequencing of construction activities, manpower requirements, quantity installations, collection of progress data, etc. and assists with progress updates on a monthly basis. * Supports the project management team in establishing the baseline plan and producing S-Curves to depict actual progress against the plan. Works with Project Management Teams to develop recovery plans as needed. * Provides revenue forecasting, analysis and reporting tied to schedule dates and durations within the portfolio schedules. * Performs critical path analysis to manage float and prioritize ongoing project activities. * Performs risk analysis for projects and potential projects within designated parameters and as requested. * Resource loads the schedule to ensure proper project staffing and resource leveling. Cost loads the schedule for weighting purposes in properly tracking physical percent complete and earned value analysis. * Routinely advises the area management of cost/schedule risks and any other areas of concern. * Updates productivity reports to validate the percent complete and produce schedule variance reports. * Provides QA on all scheduling deliverables and provides QA checks to estimates and feedback on estimating. * Assesses LD exposure as it correlates to the schedule. * Assists in preparing special reports or studies requested by operations or the project management team. * Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs. BS Degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Primavera, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint required. The incumbent must possess excellent computer skills; be capable of working on multiple projects and assignments; and have the ability to interface well with members of the project management team. Incumbents are responsible for performing a variety of tasks for Welders, Pipefitters/Carpenters, and other skilled workers. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES * Works as assigned by the Barge Foreman to ensure the successful completion of on-going or new marine construction projects. * Assists skilled craft workers such as Welders, Pipefitters/Carpenters, or other skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties. Welders Duties * Moves work pieces, tools, and supplies manually or by hand truck. * Lifts, moves, holds, or clamps work pieces to table, into jigs, or into position as directed, either manually or by using hoist, pry bars, wrenches, hammer, or wedges. * Cleans work pieces to remove impurities such as slag, rust, and grease using wire brush, portable grinder, hand scraper, or chemical solutions. * Connects hoses from hand torch to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders or connects cables from power source to electrode holder and work piece or fixture. * Starts gasoline engines to activate electric generators. * Removes tags and moves finished work. * Attaches grappling equipment to objects prior to movement by crane. Pipefitter / Carpenter Duties * Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms. * Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications. * Levels earth to fine grade specifications using pick and shovel. * Mixes concrete using portable mixer. * Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete using float, trowel, or screed. * Positions joints, aligns, and seals pipe sections. * Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces. * Mops, brushes, or spreads paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection. * Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces. * Performs various tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projection from concrete, mounting pipe hangers, and cutting and attaching insulation material. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES * Works as assigned by the Equipment Manager to ensure timely maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery. * Performs day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities in the field mechanic shop as assigned. * Keeps a daily log of work being done and maintains work orders. * Disassembles, repairs, and assembles diesel and gasoline engines. * Performs minor and major overhauls and repairs on brake, electrical, fuel, lubrication, cooling, vacuum, and hydraulic systems and drive trains. * Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems with machinery and equipment. * Installs batteries, tires, wiring, windows, and windshields. * Lubricates and services automotive and heavy equipment as needed. * Maintains appropriate maintenance records of all repairs and plans the next regularly scheduled maintenance date. * Orders materials and supplies needed for repair and maintenance of various pieces of equipment and machinery. * Maintains a library of various maintenance and repair reference manuals. * Performs general facility maintenance and clean-up tasks. * Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance with State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs. POSITION REQUIREMENTS A minimum of two (2) years' experience as an automobile mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary mechanic skills, knowledge, and abilities is required. The incumbent must also be able to communicate well and have good knowledge of the: * Practices and materials of the heavy equipment mechanic trade. * Operation of various types of marine equipment, machinery, and devices. * Importance of safe work practices in a marine environment. * Mechanic craft and be capable of demonstrating proficiency to perform the job. The Company expects and requires incumbent and each of its other employees to observe and fulfill the above and all other safety responsibilities and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD's), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise. Must be qualified and physically able to drive regular passenger vehicles to visit work locations and job sites. In addition, Mechanic must be capable of: * Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time. * Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in performance of work. * Climbing vertical ladders to heights of 40'-50'. * Working in confined spaces. * Working at elevated heights. * Lifting objects up to 50 lbs. as required. * Adapting to extreme temperature changes. * Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure. * Remaining calm during emergencies and responding appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident.
