Job Description As a Machine Assistant, you will support machine operators in all aspects of the press operation, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements. Duties and Responsibilities Set up slotting, feed, and die-cut sections on the machine according to proper setup techniques. Assist the operator with other duties as needed. Monitor board quality (e.g., loose liner, warp, dimensions, caliper, etc.) and report any quality issues to the operator. Sort as necessary to maintain machine productivity. Work at the pace set by the machine operator. Cross-train on other machines as necessary. Be open to moving up the line of progression to operator, regardless of shift. Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner. Submit maintenance work orders to supervisors for needed repairs. Be proactive about equipment maintenance. Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and maintaining good housekeeping. Assist operators in adhering to the production schedule. Recommend adjustments to optimize the schedule and meet cost, quality, and service goals. Report any scheduling issues to the Supervisor. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED. Preferred qualifications: Prior experience in the corrugated industry. 6 months' experience as a Flexo or DieCut Helper. 6 months' experience in the Press and Finishing Departments. Language Skills Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters. Mathematical Skills Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rates. Knowledge of high school-level math concepts. Reasoning Ability Ability to understand and carry out instructions (written, oral, or graphic). Ability to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Technical Skills Knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, ensuring efficient operation. Familiarity with product layouts and production specifications. Cross-train on other machines and learn other positions in the plant. Switch duties with co-workers as necessary. Learning environment to learn as many job duties to assist with plant growth and personal and professional growth opportunities. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping. Must be able to work overtime as necessary, sometimes on short notice. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED.
