E & S Orthodontics is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Orthodontic Assistant on our Chandler/Tolleson team. Must exude enthusiasm, self-motivation, and have a desire to provide amazing patient care and excellent customer service. Must have great communication skills, ambition, and attention to detail. Our Team learns new skills regularly and become proficient at all aspects of Orthodontics. We have a fun and rewarding environment where you are encouraged to think for yourself! 1. Makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records.
2. Assistants hands instruments and materials to orthodontists and keeps patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
3. Ensures equipment utilized is in good working order.
4. Reviews and maintains dental records documenting assessments and care provided.
5. Reviews consent and medical history prior to treatment.
6. Prepares impression trays, orthodontic banding/bonding, arch wire ligation and removal, takes dental x-rays, removing sutures, placing matrices, placing and removing rubber bands, ligature ties and separators, removes excess cement from restorations and bands and takes clinical photographs.
7. Handles instrument cleaning, sterilization/disinfection and re-circulation. Performs dental room/chair disinfection.
8. Prepares casting models and dies, pours impressions to make stone and plaster models, and fabricates mouth guards, retainers and custom impression trays.
9. Assists in patient/family education through written and oral explanation.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
