Denver-based startup OrthoFi is changing the orthodontic industry by introducing software solutions which give doctors the capability to start more patients. OrthoFi's goal is to solve both old and new problems facing the industry. Nowadays, general dentists are able to get certified to provide basic aligner treatment, which has upped the competition for orthodontists. Where previously they only worried about competition between other orthodontists, now their worries have expanded. In addition, new remote orthodontic treatment services have popped up that ship at-home kits and aligner trays directly to the patient's house. But don't worry, OrthoFi is here to save the day.

Using a multitude of data points, OrthoFi provides patients flexible financing options that give them access to a payment structure that fits their budget best. With these payment structures in place, no patient is turned away. By offering OrthoFi, orthodontists are able to provide the best treatment care options for each patient. And they can do so without taking a financial hit to their business. The company then uses technology to streamline both patient and insurance collections practices so they're able to sustain growth.

    Teammates That Brew Together, Stay Together

    The perks that employees enjoy at OrthoFi are some of the coolest around. I mean even the company's office building has a cool history. It used to be a manufacturing facility for Ford Model T cars. But if that's not cool enough for you, employees enjoy unlimited PTO for when they need a break from work. But when they do come into the office, they enjoy catered breakfasts, meditation sessions and wellness initiatives. Additionally, the company provides comprehensive health benefits and an on-site gym to ensure you're able to stay healthy.

    The company also provides several opportunities for you to get to know your coworkers outside of work. The outings are fun and nonsensical so team members are able to have fun and see their teammates in a different light. They believe in taking work too seriously, while not taking themselves too seriously.

    One example of this is a game they invented at OrthoFi. It's called SumoFi. The game involves two bubble soccer balls that fully enclose a person while leaving their legs free. A huge circle is drawn on the floor to represent what is out of bounds. Two contestants will face off starting in the circle. The object is to try and knock each other out of the circle. The best two out of three times wins.

    The team outings don't just help teammates get to know each other more. Sometimes the outings are used as a way to connect people who struggle to connect with each other. A couple of years ago, the company was facing this specific problem within one of the departments. So what did the company do to fix this? They held a funny scavenger hunt. And those people finally connected during the activity. In fact, they're still good friends to this day.

    If one thing is for sure, it's that OrthoFi really develops a strong team that works hard together. Even if that means brewing beer together. A few years back, the company realized many of its employees were individually brewing their own beers. Now, they brew as a team. Using Odell IPA, Bell's Two-Hearted Ale, and Gumball Head from Three Floyds as inspiration, the OrthoFi team has put together two delicious beers:

  • Clifford the Big Red Ale: This hoppy red ale is known for starting out as the runt of the litter, but has since made a delicious comeback.
  • Wit-Walker: This brew is filled with flavors of blackberry and strawberry. Based off of the hit TV series, Game of Thrones, the Belgian brew hails from North of the wall.
  • From improving the Orthodontia industry to brewing beer, there's nothing this company can't do. And the best part is they do it together, as a team.
