Orthofix company history timeline

1980

1980: Orthofix Srl is created to market the axial frame device.

Since 1980, Orthofix has evolved and grown to become one of the leading medical device companies with a spine and orthopedics focus in the world.

1992

A new milestone for the company came in 1992, when Orthofix listed its stock on the NASDAQ. The public offering enabled Orthofix to begin plotting its next expansion phase.

1995

That move came in 1995, when Orthofix acquired American Medical Electronics Inc. (AME). The acquisition brought Orthofix a new specialty, that of bone growth stimulators and bone substitutes.

1996

In 1996, however, Orthofix brought in Charles Federico to take over as CEO of the United States subsidiary and turn it around.

1997

In 1997, the company introduced another new product, a synthetic bone replacement material called Intramedullary Nail and Osteogenics BoneSource.

1999

"Orthofix Acquires Firm Focused on Tissue Growth Stimulation," Biotech Equipment Update , July 1999.

2003

2003: Full control of Intavent Orthofix is acquired.

2004

Orthofix's expansion in the United States took a major step forward in 2004.

2005

In April 2005, for example, the company announced its agreement to handle marketing and distribution for Berkeley Advanced BioMaterials Inc.'s bone-repair products.
